Is Nigella really as smug as she appears?

Perhaps.

But perhaps if you add a bit of this : Essential Cuisine

or make your own (numerous recipes online, if you type "vegan chicken stock" into a search engine) ?
Thank you but I was expressing the fact that that chicken dish looks lovely but I cannot make it for me and my partner as he doesn't eat meat. I don't want to make a vegetarian alternative. I want to make it with chicken :)

I broke in the end, I was vegetarian for a very long time (before current partner) but I wanted to eat meat again and so now I have a couple of days a week where I will do similar things for us both but a meat version for me and a veggie version for him - as long as it's not completely different it isn't a lot of effort and I don't resent never having meat any more.

I am more than happy eating meat-free food with him. I am definitely not of the idea that every meal has to contain meat. But I think eventually there will be some sort of compromise like you describe above because I do like to eat meat.

I haven't tried yet to adapt meat meals as I think they will need some clever cooking if the dish is heavily reliant on meat juices creating the flavour. I'll give it a whirl eventually but there's lots of other things to cook before bothering with that.

Yep that is where I was, I was ok with it for a long time (and I do like vegetarian food) - but I'd started really craving meat and realised something had to give! So these days I don't eat a lot of meat, but the occasional meal - and I really enjoy it.

A good thing I can suggest wrt the latter is to make your own vegetable stock (portion it up to freeze so you have it to hand when needed) - it's almost always much nicer than stock cubes and especially if experimenting with veggie stews or any dish where you want a portion of it to cook in "juices" it will make a real difference to the flavour of that sort of veggie dish. Also Marmite/Henderson's Relish/mushroom based condiments are fantastic to add richness and umami which might be lacking if you simply omit the meat and replace with something veggie.

Lesley Joseph has aged amazingly well, a very sexy lady.
Yeah, a lot of people say "ageing badly" when someone's just "ageing". It's quite nasty. No doubt Nigella and Lesley Joseph have "had a bit of work done" as they say; being women in the public eye it's pretty much expected, but I think some people expect celebrities to stay looking about 40, tops, forever, or else they're "ageing badly". It's ridiculous.

Really, look how provocatively she was dressed walking the streets alone at night. For fucks sake.

The phwoar posts are the least of the thread's problem tbh, e.g. post #19 (no I won't quote it, page 1).
True, although that was Detroit City though so I'm not sure that it counts.

As you say 'women'. If you're a man, it just adds...gravitas or some such shit.
