Is Lady Gaga being Post Modern or is she just a bit odd?

btw I can see where you are coming from a bit, about Lady Gaga being post-modern, I said it as a joke on the other thread in fact, but rehashing 80's music and styles and giving it a twist isn't post modern.
No, it wasn't that - it was the fact that she thinsk she's being some kind of 'Performance Artist'

I'd heard the name quite often, but hadn't a clue who she was, but about a week or so ago she did a turn on American Pop Idol, and I must admit I thought: Huh? What's all the fuss about? I mean she forgets to wear a skirt or trousers half the time she's out, and she's got a stupid hairdo. And she's not that fantastic an act, I failed to detect any Wow! factor in the performance I saw.

Well, you said arse. She does have a lovely big arse, proportionally speaking.
I was trying to be funny, Chris. I thought it would be funny to pretend that I thought that costume really was her arse. But, oh no, you have to come along and get all literal on my ass. Well, fuck you, Chris. FUCK YOU!!!!

Her interview was a but dull, whats with the tea? but mainly because wosssy didn't have much prepared for her which worked.

As to her music at the end, I usually rate the acts on Wossy by how long it takes me to switch over, usually I switch quite quickly after they started playing, with Gaga I stayed tuned and watched the show! And I liked her act and the music. So there is a reason for her existance!

Post-modernity is a movement which seeks to understand the modern world (or at least, the world between the 50s and 80s) as a reaction against the modernist movement, in which nothing is truly known, and each experience exists in an objective vacuum. It is widely criticised.

Post-modernity in this sense means ironic hipster weirdness. This is also widely criticised.

Another way of looking at Po-Mo is to say that it's a beautiful set of curtains and when you draw them back, there's nothing there but a bare brick wall. :D

Post imperial, post feminist, post modern but most of all, Postman Pat.
