Is Lady Gaga being Post Modern or is she just a bit odd?

Missed her appearance.

Shame, as I've been wondering why I keep being confronted with pictures of her.

Sorry.

Is it her real hair or a hair piece?
I don't want to know.
Because it all seemed a bit 'Laboured'. I don't think she's naturally odd, I think she's doin' that there actin' and trying to be all artisitic.

And she can fuck right off

That's not being post modern though. That's being a knob.

Post-modernity is a movement which seeks to understand the modern world (or at least, the world between the 50s and 80s) as a reaction against the modernist movement, in which nothing is truly known, and each experience exists in an objective vacuum. It is widely criticised.

Post-modernity in this sense means ironic hipster weirdness. This is also widely criticised.

Is this the sort of thread to mention David Harvey's book "The Condition of Post-Modernity"?

Probably not. Good book though. :o

But this is the thing.

Some stuff that is deemed as post modern is quite good because it is not trying to be but it mainly seems to be a movement that is full of try hards, wannabes and knobs!

I'm not saying all post-modernism is knobbish. But I don't know what it is about Lady Gaga that Madzone is classing as post-modern.

Does Gaga class herself as POst-modern?

btw I can see where you are coming from a bit, about Lady Gaga being post-modern, I said it as a joke on the other thread in fact, but rehashing 80's music and styles and giving it a twist isn't post modern.
