Is Jools Hollands Hootenanny recorded?

I haven't but heard them before-most fine although my uke is lying neglected in the huuuge pile of novelty products in the corner of the living room underneath a broken Jesus clock:( :o
 How verrrrry dare you!

Mine's in the cupboard :o

New Year's Eve has been pre-recorded for years now. It gives the security forces a chance to watch it prior to the event, make a note of any crimes committed so they can deploy to the right place when the festivities take place on the day itself.

I remember being at a mass 1980's revival new years eve thing and my beloved Marc Almond was warbling away, at the same time he was doing it on Jools Hootenanay....

So, I then twigged, it was pre-recorded.

I love Marc and so does Jools it seems :D

Poor Paul Weller, they wheel him out every year, and every year, no one likes him any more.

Does anyone actually still like him?!
I thought that too until a couple of weeks ago when I came out the tube at Kentish Town and couldn't move for touts buying/selling tix for Weller's show at the Forum - a sure sign that he's still very popular, particularly to people of a certain age who generally fall into the demographic of Jools show.

He didn't look best pleased having to share the stage with La Winehouse last night - and I don't blame him, she was embarrassing. TBH the whole show was cobblers except for Seasick Steve, who was ace, and Ade Edmonson doing Anarchy.

Praps as well it's not live as his father-in-law snuffed it today.
Lord Lambton had told an MI5 officer he had thrown himself into a "frenzied" round of vigorous "gardening and debauchery" to get over the fact he had lost a three-year battle over the use of his father's title.
Gardening And Debauchery is a great name for a band.

I fell asleep just before the end. Did Marc do the last song? If so was it Say Hello, Wave Goodbye?

Wtf is Urban coming to? :(

Couldn't answer this last night, the leccy died just after that double post :D

Jools, he's ok but he irritates me and I haven't watched it for yrs.

The whole areas leccy broke just before Still Game started :(
Was off for about 3hrs I think. I went to bed before it was back on, but it fair made my night :D

Jools is on again at 12.50(bbc2) for any who missed some last night :)

And what about that dude Seasick Steve????

Distorted electric blues on a three string guitar????? Sounded bloody good.......

And Adrian Edmondson singing a swing version of Anarchy in the UK??? BRILLIANT!!!! Did'nt know he played the trumpet either.

Overall, good prog.

Mark.

P.S Is it me or has the Wellster had a hair transplant?

I was puzzled about why the subtitles were so precise, closet subtitle fan & I had earache, and said to himself I thought it must be on a 5 min delay or something. I didn't realise the wanker recorded it yonks ago.

Mind, if it wasn't for watching it I wouldn't know that Madeleine Peyroux matched up to my quest for finding Billie Holiday-esque music in the modern age. How spooky is that.

And Seasick Steve was just fabby. New one for himself to explore.

Oh and Paul Weller, you're not 25 any more. Getting a f'kin haircut you muppet.

As far as I can work out, Jools Holland's current wife was previously married to Edward Lambton, son of Anthony Lambton (-the deceased man in question!).

So: not actually Jools Holland's father-in-law, but his wife's ex-father-in-law. Or something...? :D

Yeah, he was excellent. (-I didn't see the whole programme; did he only do one song?)

I thought that was embarrassing tbh.

Overall, I can't stand the Later/Hootenanny format: too much back-slapping, showbiz mates, Q Magazine readers, and pissed-up dad-dancers! :p

Damn it never occurred to me that it was pre-recorded.

What a con. They should have had James Brown on - that would have really fecked them up.
