is it too soon to go out in flip flops?

honestly, you ask a simple question and suddenly this undercurrent of hatred for flip flops comes out! and i get called........UNCOOL!!

anyway i did go out in flip flops and i felt luvverly and happy.

then i walked home v.late at night and my feet were crying.:(

so daytime, flipflops yeah! nightime flipflops noo..
:)

I've got 6 pairs of flip-flops, all of them highly fashionable as well as practical here in Burma. Right now, I'm wearing Lion as my former fave Six Elephants decided to switch production from hand-made to machine-made. They didn't feel the same after that.

Anyway, they're fucking ace and never will I subject my feet to the fungal agony which is socks and shoes when the daytime temperature exceeds 15 degrees.

I wore my birkenstocks yeaterday (not for the first time this month either :p ) and got my toes repeatedly nuzzled and licked by a beautiful cocker spaniel puppy while I was sat outside a cafe having a coffee.
His owner kept apologising profusely, but I assured her that it was actually extremely pleasurable.

I will make an exception for geta clogs, but only if you are actually a geisha. After all, most of their garb seems specifically designed to be grossly uncomfortable.

you do know not only geisha wear geta ...

important advice in case you are ever in japan
could save some embaresment

Yes thank you, I do know that.

Do ever feel like posting about something not related to Japan? :p

It was the not-about-Japan posts I was saying weren't interesting. Anyway, I was only teasing Shippy because I thought he was being just a teensy bit know-all about the clogs without having any idea how much I know about Japan.

I'm not really grumpy you know :)

In the Observer's crappy women's supplement on Sunday, they had a pic of someone wearing chunky socks with Jesus sandals – made by Prada

the woman in my post is Anna Wintour

TBH it's not a look I'm keen on

well maybe if they were 7 denier ff seamed with a nude toe it would be OK, but opaque hose / socks with sandals

just wrong

The other night my feet were cold so I wore fisherman's socks and Nike "power sandals" around the house. I thought it looked atrocious but now I see I was surfing the wave of cool. I just can't help it

 :( ;)

I have been wearing flip flops for several weeks (it's already too hot for me!).

Sometimes I team my flip flops with my toe socks (you know, like gloves). Not for outdoors though, if my feet are cold I'd wear proper shoes. I like having stuff between my toes. Indeed, I often put things between my toes simply because it feels good.

I hate flip flops as well, I don't really know why, maybe because of the noise they make...

I hope when you guys are walking in it, the plastic things tear off the bottom and you have to get home barefooted

Reminds me of the time I found a pair of fairly new-looking Birkenstocks abandoned on a tussock in the middle of a bog by a hill-loch.

My guess is that the former owner had found the midgies who breed prodigiously there just a bit too much! :D

I do hope he/she had alternative footwear as it was a rather long walk over some rather abrasive rocky outcrops before civilisation could be reached again.

You'd enjoy one of hte exercises we do at yoga
you sit down and pulll your feet towards you facing each other and then push your toes inbetween the toes of hte opposite foot, a bit like holding your own hand only with a foot. Then once you've got them in place you do some breathing and relaxing and then seperate them and (v important) do it again only with the other big toe on top then before, so that each foot has a go at being the top foot.

It feels very weird but quite pleasant too

Before 2003 nobody seemed to wear them - then, from then on, everyone suddenly started doing so. Why?

Rubbish, flip flops have been around since I was a child (which is way before 2003, I can assure you).
