Is it right for the public to censor the BNP?

The bogeyman status might be paying some unexpected dividends. If you buy the any publicity theory, after the incidents in Lozells where there wasn't any WASp participation they are the only political party that is mentioned in relation to it.

I noticed that.

It is usually the case that those who still bang on about no platform are the same people who misjudge or exaggerate the nature of the threat that the BNP represents. And in doing so they not only put them in the headlines but often fail to take up what the BNP is actually saying, preferring wild claims that they would set up gas chambers at the first opportunity. Meanwhile the BNP can focus on what they are saying in reality, which, sadly, given the lack of visible alternatives, seems to make sense to a lot of white people when they look at situations like the one in Birmingham this weekend.

There are voices from Birmingham that are urging people to unite for social justice.

I don't think I could imagine a more hackneyed trot cliche with higher chances of having the exact opposite effect.

Though I'm sure they'll be along with a few shortly...

Nice try at hackneyed trot calling. I think you'll find that it's the community who are calling for unity. Afterall, what other way forward is there?

Are the placards already being printed - along with the obligatory "JUSTICE FOR PALESTINE! END THE OCCUPATION!" suffix?

Maybe running off a few "Faith Schools NOW!" and "Extend The Blasphemy Laws!" placards might also have a calming effect on the situation?

Censorship is a red herring, fascists cannot be allowed to organise or have a presence on our streets because they seek to opress and intimidate, not because they are offensive fuckwits (even though they are).

Instead of giving a very poor impression of a piss poor comedian, why not tell what your plan of action to events in Birmingham is to be?

My only advice (I don't claim to have the answers) would be to keep the trots a thousand miles from the place.

The community themselves have to sort out the divisive tension there.

I couldn't help but notice that some of these 'voices' have today been falling over themselves to append that 'urging' with a claim for Main Victim status.

Talk about playing the BNP at their own game.

That's hardly comparable to Redwatch - for a start i can't imagine the u75 mods would have allowed any such info to stay up here for long.

In the BNP parasites thread, we have people putting up a faceparty picture before they're even certain it is the person in question.

Annoys me a bit that people do this when they'll never go up to Scotland and put any counter argument across.
