is it possible to get rid of mice?

There are two types of electronic repellent..one uses electromagnetic pulses that go through all your electrical wiring and another that makes an ultrasonic sound. With the electromagnetic ones you have to change the setting at least twice a day or they get used to it. The electromagnetic ones work better on rats.

Does anyone know roughly how much the council charge to come and set traps etc? Spotted a mouse in our kitchen last night. :( Absolutely gutted. We had them in our last flat but thought that was because bloody Camden council wouldn't let us have wheelie bins so we had to keep binbags on the roof terrace till bin day. We've lived here for a year and it's the first one I've seen. Am looking to get rid of them asap. Unfortunately the kitchen is really old and there are big holes everywhere. Any advice on what traps / poison works would be appreciated. The electronic trap sounds good. Anyone else used one of these?

Saw a pretty big one in my kitchen last night, first time i've had mice here. Set a Rentokil 'advanced' trap in the corner where i saw it, right angles to the wall and bated with peanut butter and chocolate.

Caught within two hours...

A bit sad, it looked really cute :(

Argh, we've got one of the little fuckers in the flat.

Anyone know where I can get some humane traps in Brixton?

Find where they are coming in first, and seal up the holes. Otherwise they will keep coming in.

With mice, prevention is better than cure.

Being a massive hippie, when I got mice in my van I couldn't bare to kill them so got myself one of those humane traps and used to take them on a walk a mile away to some lovely private gardens and I still never managed to get rid of the bastards. Eventually they all grew up and moved out in the summer so I set about patching any and all holes I could then.

I did get told that they're deathly afraid of the smell of rats though, so maybe you could introduce some of them to scare off the mice? :D

That would mean potentially being near a mouse though  :o

Maybe it will just go away if I don't think about it. ;)

We had one arround recently. It used to run under the sofa during the late evening, I'd see it out of the corner of my eye.
As we couldn't find a nest, we assumed it had come in from outside.

We spent last weekend filling in any gaps we could find, drawing up a cleaning rota to avoid temptation, and clearing out the understairs cupboard to reduce the number of hiding places.

We also bought 4 sonic devices from B&Q and plugged them in all through the ground floor.
The first evening they were switched on I thought I heard some scrabbling behind a wall but didn't see anything.
Since then - nothing.

I have my fingers crossed that the mouse is now an ex-problem, thanks to all the tips on this thread. :D :D
