I don't eat different things at different times of the day. I can't stand the things you would typically think of as everyday breakfast foods. Cereal is disgusting processed nutritionless crap, toast is too dry, don't like porridge etc etc. This morning I reheated last night's leftover tuna pasta and ate it for breakfast. Tomorrow my breakfast will be potato curry. Mmmmmmm
In all seriousness, surely the differences between our meals reflect our typical work schedule - something quick before heading out the door to go to work supplying us with the energy to sustain us for a few hours being alert, something light at lunch in our short lunchbreak that isn't so full of carbs that we'll be asleep by 3pm, and a cooked meal in the evening to supply the remaining nutritional needs and also as a bit of wish fulfillment/reward for having worked all day, or maybe something to "soak up the alcohol" of an evening out, or maybe that's the only time of the day you have time to spend preparing food rather than eating something quick - animals do not have the same structured (and unnatural) demands upon their time that we do. My cats get up in the morning, groom themselves, play, eat, groom themselves, sleep, wake up, and the cycle is repeated for the next meal of the day, and again for the next, they don't have any demands on them or time constraints.
