Approved Document to Part G (para 1.2):-A space containing a toilet should be separated by a door from a space used for the preparation of food (including a kitchen and any space in which washing up is done)."
Giles said:I always thought it had to be two doors. I am amazed that they have recently relaxed this rule, because in general building regs get stricter as time goes on, don't they? Like: numerous rules on electrical safety, plumbing, types of heater allowed, insulation becoming mandatory for new buildings, requirements for buildings to be more disabled-friendly, etc etc.
I am really shocked that someone turned round and said "yes, lets have people take a dump right behind the door into the kitchen"!?![]()

They should be! Another bathroom fault, which I've lived with, is having the front door open in a direct line to the bathroom. All the energy goes down the pan. This just feels wrong instinctively now. As does leaving the loo seat up.guinnessdrinker said:are builders trained in Feng Shui
