Is it just me or has Top Gear jumped the shark?

I hate the way Clarkson repeatedly uses the dramatic pauses.

"So we decided to test drive it..... in a minefield!".

"And the latest Ferrari we crashed.... into a milkfloat".

"When I was at school we used to wank.... onto a biscuit!".

Clarkson is unashamedly copying the style of Alan Whicker who is some kind of hero to him. I can't really disagree with a lot of what's been said about the format and the content of late, but I still look forward to Top Gear every week. Ultimately, it's a car show for a fairly niche audience. They aren't trying to be particularly clever, I think their whole style acknowledges that the three of them are pretty much big kids playing with toys. I actually found the radio-show segment hilarious.
