Yep, a silver lining on every cloud.

chymaera said:Putting a smiley does not mean anything. You have a very nasty attitude towards disabled people, that is all too common.
soulman said:No I don't. Just towards arseholes like you and treelover. So where are these death camps for people with a disability? In your head, that's where.
chymaera said:If you could read properly I did not state there were any, (yet).
soulman said:That's right. The only death camps for disabled people are in your head.
chymaera said:Taking the current goverment "Welfare Reforms" to their logical conclusion, given the nasty propaganda being used, a few years down the road is the "Final Solution."
I know plenty of disabled people who are scared shitless about going for government agency medicals as it is, in case they don't come back.
soulman said:Book them a taxi you loon.
chymaera said:Given your attitude I expect you would pay for it.

yes i think they might be, well i think Brown may well not lead Labour to the next election.
this government has the whiff of the Tories under Major now stumbling from crisis to crisis.
i really do believe there is a natural lifespan to any ruling party in a democracy. you saw this with the Tories we see this now in Australia and i suspect we are seeing it now in the UK.
soulman said:Do you believe the Tories will make things any better?
lewislewis said:No but Plaid and the SNP will, and in England the Greens are your best bet.

That depends on who becomes leader, if they get one of the so called grey beards its possible they could pull that off (I'm thinking Straw being a care taker leader into the next election, percieved safe pair of hands etc) but if they get a young turk ala Miliband (David not the bug eyed younger brother) they'll have a hard time. He's too obviously Blair Lite (he even talks like him on camera at times)...Dan U said:Labour may need to ditch Brown completely before the next election to stand a chance, break the Blair/Brown link in the countries psyche.

I agree with the first bit - Brown doesn't look like a long-term leader at all right now, and NL is disintegrating - but I haven't a clue what that will mean. The Tories are still shit and if they took over would be baffled, deer-in-the-headlights. They're still mired in the wilderness attitude and Cameron is patently a tit (though this being the Tories they may change him for someone else before then). Lib Dems? Right, yeah.Dan U said:at the risk of answering the OP

FridgeMagnet said:Basically we'll either limp on with a NL govt, or end up with the Tories who will be out the election after that. Either way the whole business will be even more obviously farcical than it is at the moment, and non-parliamentary action will become even more obviously important than it is now. I suppose the latter is a good thing.

Do you really think this Government can survive until May 2010?ska invita said:Theres nearly three years till an election - this is all just media hoohaa - it means nothing about the longe term success of Labour at next election. Plenty of time for them to get in deeper shit!
Kid_Eternity said:Another week, another crisis; this government looks like its collapsing and Brown is narrowly missing being stung by a high profile minister having to resign every few days. Is this the sinking ship? Is Gordon Brown [and Labour] fucked?
soulman said:Yes.
