Is European anti-Americanism due to lack of repricussions?

Where is he 'refusing to admit' this?

He hasn't exactly admitted anything. In fact he has spent a good deal of time being evasive. There are a large number of southerners who spend their days looking for clues that will give their emotional arguments a modicum of academic gravitas. I offered a quote from Shelby Foote, where he said that "The North won with one hands tied behind its back. The South never stood a chance". He hasn't accepted this and has, instead, produced a series of diversions that he calls "facts".

He has coughed up 'factoids' like "Not all slaves worked under overseers" in response to the suggestion that slavery was a cruel and inhuman institution. When I asked him why he did this - he wrongly assumed that I didn't know that there were black overseers or that there were, in some cases, an absence of an overseer - he claimed that it was to "provide information". At no point has he even admitted that slavery was cruel and he has sought to present it as a venerable institution.

Btw, this argument has been raging for years now.

here's a question, why did you isolate that sentence from the rest of my post?

This is particularly important and has been central to this 'debate'.
You deny that racism underpinned chattel slavery in spite of the incontrovertible evidence that abounds (including testimonies from former slaves).

Dilute dismisses the testimony of slaves as "emotional". I'll leave you to guess why he thinks that.

For some reason, dilute has shied away from Shelby Foote.

Maybe he's a 'self-hating' (though deceased) Southerner.

So in fact you are purely speculating while the couple themselves made no mention of any racism. Next you are speculating on a lack of professionalism of people you don't know to end with speculating that somehow a manager was involved who could proclaim himself and his employees to be above the law.

salaam.

No I know she suspected it to be racism although she didn't tell me so. And I don't know the law as it deals with charges for a service. Do you? It wasn't an addition to the price of the house. It's not pure speculation.

Yes it would be poor professionalism to either forget a charge or not tell the buyer till the last minute. It was interesting that it was so much and not just a couple hundred dollars. By the time comes to sign they know your financial capabilities.

Said what? If you look at dilute's posts you will see that he has a tendency to make things up. He accused me of saying that "only the south had slavery" and " the US civil war was fought over slavery". I have said none of these things.

However I produced a quote from the Civil War historian, Shelby Foote, which said that "The north waged war with one hand behind its back"...or words to that effect. He's taken that and and twisted it around. Why? Because if he can't try and bludgeon his way through a discussion, he lies.

But where did he get this from?

Here, he claims that a woman had to pay a "black fee" in order to purchase a house. Yet, I can find no evidence of such a charge or story anywhere on the Net. His views on the nature of chattel slavery come from the Dixie lexicon of social relations.
