Sadly, I doubt there would have been any soul-searching.
I would certainly say that after a 52% remain victory that there should have been a rethink of the UK's relationship with the EU, but I'm afraid that nothing i've seen of how 'remainiacs' deal with with leavers, or speak about the various issues facing the EU, suggests that this is an ideology or pyschology that reaches out to people or seeks a workable compromise. No, had remain won, regardless of the margin, then the EUphiles would have taken it as a writ to end all discussion and indeed as an instruction to engage more deeply in the project.
Despite being very much of the liberal, remain-voting, Guardian reading establishment, I don't like what I see of the liberal, remain-voting, Guardian reading establishment very much at all....
