Is anyone going to the Taste Festival in Regent's Park?

some barnaby types left 20 crowns on the bar at the leffe tenet which we gladly reappropriated..

We bumped into some of OU's friends, one of which had 70 crowns left 20 mins before it was finished

When it rained we sat in the VIP area and drank champagne that the waiters kept topping up for us

yeah, the freebies at the end were brilliant.

we got into the leffe tasting event at the end (normal cost; 10 crowns each) for 6 crowns between the two of us. and then we got double the amount because everyone else had buggered off home.

:)

I'm going to this year's one (it's the weekend after next). I've wan a pair of tickets which unexpectedly arrived in the post this morning:cool:.
Hoping there's going to be loads of free samples there:D

we did!

i had top quality drugs (but got wasted v quickly on organic cider + meds combo, so didn't have a huge appetite). anyway, it was brilliant. totally worth the money if you think of it in terms of a night out / posh meal.

i had

teriyaki scallops with shitake mushrooms
spit roast belly pork with crackling and puy lentils
vlarhona chocolate fondue with strawberries and biscotti and homemade marshmallows. and lots of cider (about 3.5 pints)
and i still had crowns left to stock up on crab pate and a choc brownie to take home. that was with £25 wort of crowns.

I bought 40 quids worth of crowns and I had <takes deep breath, opens menu and begins to read pretentious menu> line caught sea bass with shrimp chorizo and saffron pickled vegetables, braised pig's head with potato puree and caramelised onion, dahi batata saev mumra poori (crispy puffed pooris filled with crushed potato seasoned with a trio of chutneys and served with roasted puffed rice and chickpea vermicelli), ginger duck foie gras, smoked chicken and foie gras terrine with lentils and truffle vinaigrette, warm loin of Farmer Sharp Herdwick lamb served with nicoise salad with champagne and mint, traditional bread with Parma ham, squacquerone cheese and rocket salad, confit of Gloucester old spot pork belly with rosemary scented cannelini beans, as well as various free nibbles, chutneys, sauces and icecreams. Still had change left for an 18 pack of sausages, some chai and a couple of yummy posh cordials. Must go lie down.

Have read the above with interst and am gutted that I missed it.

Some people talk in £'s and others in crowns... how many crowns do you get for £1?

2 crowns to a quid.
Most dishes (small, starter sized ones) are between 6 and 10 crowns)

It was 2 crowns for a quid, but if you got the more expensive tickets you got some included so it worked out a bit cheaper.

One disppointment - I only found 1 cheese stall - some boring cheese from Isle Of Man - they couldn't give it away.

Cheers mate, seems that some people got quite good deals at the end of the day then, am annoyed about any possibility of missing free/cheap booze!

And cheese of course, cheese is good, the more blue bits in it the better.

<Goes to look at the horrendously over-priced sliver of Roquefort in the fridge>
