Is anyone doing evening classes then?

Lovin it!

Am doing an open uni course and love it.Recomend it to anyone, you can get your fees paid if its your first degree( or if you have a false name and id and a prior degree!):D

Well, that was interesting. My head is still spinning with common denominators and simple linear equations. I imagine doing maths is a bit like meditating, good for the old grey matter.

Starting Hebrew level II in October if the teacher thinks I'm ready to progress
Also thinking of taking my next level Radio Amateurs exam sometime in 08 as well.

Erm I don't know. I had an introduction session last week but first class is not till next week. Pronounciation is supposed to be tricky, and the Poles seem to have a habit of having five words where one would do!

Thanks for that

Hola!

I went to my first Spanish class on Monday - it was quite easy and nice and fun... the teacher was nice but not a GREAT teacher by any means!

still, I had fun and I will learn stuff

(no hot men I'm sad to report though :( ;))

That's great! I cant wait for mine! It's good that there arent any hot men there as i said...no distractions! Plus I received a load of Spanish language study aids for my birthday too which'll be really useful. I'm really going for it..Well, I have to be: I'm giving myself until next Spring to be able to to be pretty fluent. :)

Or at least able to communicate confidently when I go to Barca.

what kind of course are you doing Madusa - does it lead to a qualification or anything? mine is spanish for thickies as far as I can tell- but it's fun - no idea what kind of standard we'll be at the end!

Kol 'a kavord! Where you doing that then? I'd love to formalise my written and verbal skillzim!

To CC

It's just a Spanish for Beginners with Cactus. :) ...One of my brothers also offered to pay for an additional evening course for my birthday if I can just figure out which one...maybe a second Spanish course or Portuguese. Or maybe an art course. Or maybe wait until this Spanish course is done and get him to pay for the next level. :)

I've recently enrolled on a structured martial arts class that runs twice a weeknight and I'm hopefully soon gonna be joining a drop in based Kundalini Yoga class that runs at the same place as the martial arts.

I had been very seriously contemplating taking Spanish classes at the Instituto Cervantes in Manchester but all their classes are already in session and I could do with speaking with some tutors beforehand about what level of class to jump in at being that my Spanish isn't so bad already. But they'll be running new classes after Christmas, by which point my Jeet Kune Do skills will have been coming on nicely while the yoga is helping to atune my mind and body.

:)

And I'm still running regularly and working out at the gym - I'd love to be able to do either the London or NY marathon next year.

There's no hot men in my German class either. There are a lot of Yemeni medical students (none hot) though. I have missed all my classes this week :( Will defo go tomorrow.

I'm doing a course in basic Biblical Hebrew at a progressive synagogue in North London. Fabulous course I've gone from having no Hebrew whatsover last Oct to being able to find my way round basic stuff with or without vowels. I've been warned that its a bit different from Modern Hebrew (and b een told some funny stories about getting the two forms mixed up). I've had fab teachers right through the course. Its still vowels that give me problems but I've found some sound files with just the vowells on and I'm going to use this to bolster what I'm learning in class.

Do samba lessons count? I'm going for the first time tonight, if it's any good I'll carry on.

I'm doing a C&G in Jewelry Making and it is ace fun and really cheers me up.

Some of the ladies I do it with are doing 3 evening classes! Junkies!

ooh, when does yours start, Moo child? I dont get my material until the second lesson! :(

Mine starts in about 2 or 3 weeks time, its all home study, so its fairly flexible :) First assessment is 1st Dec

I missed my first spanish class cos I was busy with something that had to be handed in. I may also be busy this monday. But think I ought to make the effort.

Thats so great :) How many hours are you doing a week?

I find other than full immersion (ie- being surrounded by nothing but native speakers) intensive study works best for me, I need to be able to use and repeat what Ive learned very quickly.

Modern Hebrew is pretty easy to pick up, that said, I do still pause when given a block of text without nikudot!

CAn I ask why you went for Biblical rather than modern Hebrew?

I've got two hours of Hebrew teaching then I have exercises and writing practice and I try use it as much as possible. I seem to be picking up a word per week.

I see quite a bit of Modern Hebrew at work and its sloooooowly making a bit more sense but I prefer the vowels to be there.

See my PM. Basically its part of the deal :)

I'm going to enroll on a short story writing course in January

There's a few being held ten minutes walk away. No reason not to to be honest.

Have to have a look and get on some for next term. They keep me sane, I haven't done any for a year! It's been awful. :(

Looks like fun. Two hours a week - make a nice change from home, dinner, telly, bed of the last two months :D
