Ironing T Shirts

I iron my shirts
Once in a blue moon I drop them all off at the dry-cleaners for a really good clean and press but mostly happy to do it myself.

Nothing else gets ironed though

i am guessing that there is probably a difference of opinion on this thread between people who have to look smart for their job and thos that dont. thos that have to look smart will doubt iron everything - trousers, shirts etc and this will probably translate into the fact that they then iron t shirts etc as they get to liking the fresh feeling of having clothes ironed. thos that can get away with dressing scruffily prob get used to it and cant be bothered to iron things.

Bollocks :D

I iron shirts for work - but don't bother ironing anything else.

maybe its just a reflection that people on urban75 are generally scruffier than your average then! ;) :D

ill admit to ironing my t shirts. most people in work seem to as well. though most people in work suggest that they wash their towels daily - which i find unbelievable - i find washing my towel once a week is fine - i mean im clean when i get out of the shower! maybe ill have to start a poll to see how long most people think is normal to use a towel for - daily washing cant be right? can it?

I'm a stay at home mum and have nothing to dress up for but I still do the ironing, if only so the kids don't look like no one loves them. :o :D

clearly you should dump her - only total freaks iron t-shirts... still, you could get her to do them for you... that's obviously what she secretly desires :)

^^ Yup. Bin her ;)

Depends on whether it needs it or not. I don't really wear t-shirts, I mostly have tops with lycra in them that don't need to be ironed.

Why would anybody dry clean a shirt?
Some of my silk shirts were dry clean only, but I washed them anyway. That's when I found out that you can't wash some silk shirts! :(

You can hand-wash all silk, but you have to use soap flakes or non-bio washing powder, because bio washing powder will eat your silk for breakfast.

I don't HAND WASH!!! Except for certain personal bits and pieces ;)

I guess you don't own any wool suits.:)

Wool suits have been around a lot longer than dry-cleaning, Johnny. :)

Mind you, from what my late nan told me of the laundering procedure for a suit, it's quite a lot more labour-intensive than dry-cleaning.

I wash my towel much much less than once a week - I just do it when I think it's been a while, which is never very often.

IF you hang tshirts on a hanger straight from the wash the you generally wouldn't need to iron them.
I don't mind wearing things when they are a little (well ok, very fucking) creased.

Oh and Badgers you iron your shirts not your tshirts  :p

Who keeps t-shirts on hangers? :p
Hang them out to dry and folded does the trick for me. The few creases that are on them will drop out after being worn for half an hour anyway. :)

I voted 'don't have an iron' which isn't strictly true - my gf has one, no idea where it is though. It only comes out for weddings

Where do you hang them when they're drying?
I just dry them on the slats of the airing cupboard or the rails of the clothes horse

Ah, that's ok then :)
I imagined wardrobes lined with loads of t-shirts and vest tops on hangers. :)

my wardrode is lined with t shirts on hangers - in fact everything is on hangers. much easier to see and i get to wear freshly ironed t shirts every time. no looking scruffy and feels great. i like everything ironed.

Never ironed a tshirt. In fact, I try and iron as little as possible, even though when I do have to do it I find it quite meditative (not at the moment tho as our ironing board is shit ).

i don't iron t-shirts. i rarely iron anything tbh. i do own an iron but it's all limescaled-up so it's a matter of deciding whether the risk of your clothes getting covered in gunk is worth them looking a bit tidier.

99% of the time it isn't.
