Iraq at Peace?

Ok ta. You said 250 in November above, so i ws going on that. Nevertheless, we now have a death rate that is pretty much the same as in the first year of the occupation (following the first two mionths invasion anyway). For it to even begin to be described as 'at peace' those figures would have to be pretty close as the year before the invasion - not the year that people started getting murdered in huge numbers.

Looks as though I was completely correct in portraying a scaling down of the conflict in 2008 and its a trend which has continued since. Although as others have pointed out calling it "peace" is stretching a bit. But with the benefit of hindsight it looks as though the surge and the subsequent withdrawal have been basically successful in military terms.
