Ipswich Town 2009/10

It's been remarkably quiet on this thread (for obvious reasons ) however, we've now gone ten matches unbeaten and we're out of the relegation zone.

Is Keane the man with a plan after all?

We're unbeaten in ten games, Scunny away on Saturday and a possible six points over christmas to boot.

My early season anger has been replaced with joyous optimism, heres to a hopeful playoff push!! We are playing well, superb win over Blackpool last Saturday and confidence is back, maybe Keano has got them on the right track at long last.

Love and tractors,

Mark. (Cold and snowy in Felixstowe!)

Whilst not exactly six points over Xmas, I think it's put us in a nice position for the New Year (If Stead's red gets rescinded.)

Predictions for 2010:

We beat Blackpool in the 3rd round, draw a Premier League Club in the fourth, draw at home, narrowly defeated in the replay (I'll punt a guess at Wigan).

Keane sees out the season, where we steadily climb to the heady heights of 14th and stay there.

Stand-out results - a 7-1 thrashing of Reading in April and a nail-biting 5-3 win at Peterboro in February, balanced out by the embarrassment of a 6-0 thrashing at St. James Park in April.

Anyone else prepared to nail their colours to the mast?

(@fenboy - I reckon NCFC will make the play-off final, only to lose out to Huddersfield at Wembley, courtesy of a Jordan Rhodes hat-trick :D)

Well that's a great way to start a predictions mini-thread.

I hate the way the F.A. add another game to the ban with the catch-all "because it felt the appeal had no prospect of success."

I mean, WTF?

they very rarely rescind reds that are a matter of opinion and often deal out extra punishment. Yeah it was a ridiculous decision and even the opposition manager said so, but it still wasn't the kind of decision they rescind.

My predictions for the remainder of the season.........

We'll lose to Blackpool to a last minute deflected goal in the F.A Cup, then go on a twelve match unbeaten run with ten draws and two wins, hovering precariously above the drop zone for most of that time giving Norwich fans a carrot to chew.

We'll then win six on the spin and finish mid table before being thrashed at Newcastle.

Keane will stay for the rest of the season before buggering off elsewhere, and the south stand will cause uproar by being named the "noisy stand",

(The last part may be true.......)

Keep the faith blue brothers!!!

by the looks of things we'll probably finish the season quite well. But we've got ourselves in such a mess that'll still mean lower mid-table.

Getting rid of Rhodes and handing over Haynes sort of stimied us from the start.

I just kept thinking that Keane's reputation and contacts would bring quality in...it just never happened...:(

it's sad really, over the summer he was making the right noises about keeping as many of the existing players as possible, then just went ahead and signed a lot of shitty journeymen. I mean aside from Leadbitter and Delaney (now he's finally at centre-half), all our best players: Stead, Walters, Garvan, MacAuley, Norris were at the club when he arrived. Just additionally we've got a load of players who don't look like they'll ever be up to it (Priskin, John, Martin, Healy, Edwards)

Keane quoted as saying "I'd love to see him back at Portman Road"

C'mon Harry - let Dos Santos come back :D

from what I heard Harry is happy to let him go out on loan, but Gio doesn't fancy it. In any case, our season is basically over, we'll probably survive quite comfortably now, but the playoffs are out of reach. So I don't see the point in taking on a player who is never realistically going to be available to us next season.

Check out the Leeds captain after their 1-0 win at Old trafford...

Richard Naylor.

That's right.

Bam-bam. Centre of defence. Old Trafford. Clean Sheet.

Who would have thought it possible....

Couldn't be happier for bam-bam, great player and a born leader.

Away at Southampton.

Not bad...

you reckon?

Really as a championship club you ideally want a big home pay day against a big club, if not that you want an easy home game against someone shit.

Didn't get either of them. Got another tricky away game. Bit meh really.

so, season basically over, and Keano gets in 2 journeymen on loan, who he doesn't know if he wants to keep, so we can finish midtable rather than in the bottom half at best.

Waste of time.

My mood has gone from optimism to worry again, we've three points above the drop zone and have four away games on the trot coming up. I can see Plymouth and reading at home being real crunch games.

Still, Middlesbrough at home Saturday, I'm there. Can't wait.

I don't see us being bad enough to go down. We've lost 8 games out of 27, that to me says we aren't one of the worst teams in this division, and I think we're better than the league table suggests.

Healy and Murphy just look like more of the same, a total lack of plan on Keane's part, an utter cluelessness as to where he wants his team to go.

at Watford tonight, after winning back-to-back games for the first time this season. Three more wins should do it for staying up hopefully, although I'm not especially hopeful for this evening. Can't remember the last time we won at Watford :(
