IPL maybe coming to the UK?

I'll be supporting the Bangalore Royal Challengers in the IPL on account of the fact they've got Kevin Pietersen, my favourite cricketer, playing for them.

It's already seriously affecting test cricket. New Zealand's only world-class fast bowler, Shane Bond, gave up test cricket for 20-20. Yes, he is notoriously injury-prone, but this decision may have caused NZ to lose 20-odd matches with Bond as their spearhead.

That's not entirely true. He wanted to continue playing test cricket for NZ, indeed he had an assurance that his particpation in the ICL (competitor to the IPL and sworn enemy of the BCCI) wouldn't be a problem.

Once he's signed on the dotted line the BCCI blows up a massive storm and he's banned from ever playing for his country again. Ludicrous. What a waste. He was the best fast bowler in the world at the time.

The BCCI even banned Craig McMillan from being a *commentator* in the current test series in NZ due to his involvement in the ICL.

The power lies in one place at the moment, so I can't be the only one feeling a certain sense of schadenfreude that the IPL is being played thousands of kilometres from Mumbai. Tough biccies Lalit.
