No idea but I want pictures dammit.

He means a touchscreen that can have whatever buttons on it it needs for any particular function. Simple, but pretty.

The screen's going to get very greezy using it as a phone though. Still Very nice though.

I want to know how much memory it's going to have!

OSX made my old G3 imac cry and they think it's going to work well on a phone!? Nice if you can manage it, but even then i'm not paying the rates for upgrading the OS all the time either.

It'll be a special build, no doubt. Optimised for memory and power usage.

I want to see it move
Damn, apple know how to work a geek's mind. It's like a blowjob from a $10,000 hooker. Perfectly calculated to make me wet :(:o:)

Serious £££ though, surely. Screen that nice, 8GB of flash, camera, processor beefy enough for OSX. Gotta be pricey.
Waaaant. Waaaaant!

Fairplay - if the UI is half as good as Jobs is making out, then they may well have a winner on their hands. The 'innovation' teams at Sony E and Nokia must be kicking themselves right about now.

Be really interested to see pricing and network availability. This thing's impressive enough looking to be a posh toy that sells in large quantities, but if they can go mass market with the subsidies then Apple could have suddenly broken open another market sector.

Yep.

*checks when next installment of student loan is due in*

On the other hand it's only a 2mp camera, which could well turn out to be shite, it doesn't have 3G support and there's been no mention of battery life yet or pricing.

I wonder how big it will be... *sniff* my Treo just aged by ten years.... :(
The Treo might be big, but it's *tough* and has got about a zillion more programs written for it than anything Apple's got.

And where's the keyboard?

TBH, if this thing's got Bluetooth and Wi-fi built in, then what's the point of 3G? Aside from revenue generation for the mobile operators that is...

Not sure quite how much PDA functionality it has at this stage. He's not mentioned that yet.

edit: fuckin want one though, and I was thinking of getting a new phone anyway

It looks lovely - really nice - but after my spell with a iMate, I'm not touching a phone that hasn't got a proper hardware keyboard and buttons.

And that big screen and thin body has "break me" written all over it!

It'll be interesting to see what networks in the UK take it on.

Possibly, 3G means that you've got more freedom, crap as the network is you do get signal in more places than you'll find unlocked wifi.

Rumour is the phones are going on sale at $350 (probably contract only, surprise surprise).

So it looks like it'd cost as much as a mac mini to buy if you don't want a new contract.

I'd really give the thing a good try out before, because my experience with 'soft' keyboards has been hideous.

Unfortunately if I actually get to try it out I'll probably end up buying it. I'll have to stay well away from Apple Stores until the initial bugs are worked out.

Sounds like they've put some work into that touch screen though. multi-touch - smart software to recognise 'accidental' touches. Self-correcting keyboard etc.

- Hope it works...
