Into The Valley: PROD Goes To Wales (Feb 28th)

I know Mach quite well. I won't tell you what most of them think of the CAT place and it's many visitors.

TBH it's easier (and cheaper) for me to get to a London Prod from Cardiff. I'll probably pass this time.

I know :( And then I'd have to kill you and hide the body in some Welsh countryside that I don't even know that well :(
There'd better be pics of you two, munted and dancing :D

I'd join you but mr madz is in Ireland for a week then so I'l be stuck down here all on me ownsome :(

Doesn't take much imagination or foresight to predict what a very small proportion of dyed-in-the-womb locals may think though, does it Marius? In the great big reactionary-o-meter, English hippies come in at a slightly higher loathe rating than, say, English students.

In my time in that part of the world Welsh nationalists, the big wags, broke into our student halls and scrawled 'go home you English bastards' on all the doors. Apart from mine surprisingly, because I have the most stereotyped Welsh sounding name possible. If only they knew eh.

;)

It is a curious part of the world up there, and a lot of odd hippie/crusty/alternative lifestyle types have fetched up there one way or another. Most of them 'not local' as it were, so it's hardly suprising if there's some ill feeling here and there - but the truth is this sort of stuff has been going on for years and years in that area and if it was that hostile and unpleasant it wouldn't have lasted eh?

Yeah, my cousin -- not a hippy, but very obviously not Welsh either -- lived in Corris (just up the road from the CAT and from Mach) for a few years and he said very similar -- there was the odd bit of tension at times, but nothing REALLY unpleasant at all. Friendliness much more general ....

There was much stronger Welsh Nationalism a fair bit further North than Mach anyway.

just got this from my mate with the cottages:

"If you are finding it hard to justify the big houses at Smuggler's Cove, just a mile down the road there are three Dyfi Chalets, available separately or together, (discount negotiable for more than one chalet) so perfect for an extended family or group of friends wanting to stay together: up to 15 can be accommodated in total.
Each chalet has two bedrooms and sleeps up to 5 people; with a double bed in one bedroom, and 2 bunk beds (the lower of which can extend to a double) in the other from as little as £90.00 for a weekend and you still get access to our beach at Smuggler's Cove."

You got a flyer or page on your site for this one anywhere Jefe?

I'll try and forward on the details to some folks still in the area.

You're doing the flyer this weekend I take it. Not moved the event to this w/e....

Not sure who's still up there, but they're a hardy bunch.

Thanks to this, I've just been talking to Geoff Davies to get him to persuade Nigel to play Solfest :D

I'd ordered a Godcore tshirt specially for this occasion (thought I'd make the effort, what what), and he rang me saying he didn't have my size...so we were nattering about how Godcore is one of my favourite albums, and apparently it's not a big seller...somehow we got onto the subject of Manchesters gig and how Nigel doesn't really like playing festivals, and how Geoff has to lie for him all the time :D

Welsh village halls have bars.

I've been to a wedding in a kids dance studio as it had a bar.

I even know of a hairdressers that has a bar. We like bars in Wales.

Apart from the dry bits where the chapels held too much of a sway.

Thank gawd for smaller backstreet clubs and flagrant disregard for the licencing laws.

it is SOOOOOOOON.

I'm takingm walking boots :)

Dilly! Soj! Are you still coming? :)

Yep, we're still coming :) Hoping to land in That Wales sometime around lunchtimeish on the Saturday, cos we quite fancy a stroll around the area, make the most of the trip :) I've also promised dilly a pub lunch, if a) he's a good boy, and b) we find a pub that does lunch :D

we're getting there Friday night so we might have spare time before we go set up. So PM Pie Eye your numbers if you fancy (i'm currently sans phone)

Am a bit excited now, although the weather looks a bit damp. I have a good selection of travelling tunes, but I keep changing my mind about the tracks I want played tonight

Just waiting for the 'I'm on the train' text from dilly
