Into The Valley: PROD Goes To Wales (Feb 28th)

I can get to machynlleth with one train change. I am going to put the date in my diary, and if I have not got a job before then (and it is looking unlikely) I will be there.

Or...I could drive us :) Just over 2 hours...we would just need somewhere to kip

Sounds a cracker mate. I had a ball in that part of the country for years, and PROD should go well.

Would love to say I'd come and join you, but it's been a good few years since I called upon the Aberystwyth contacts. May investigate a little...

Yeah! Do it! Do it!

Would love to, but finances and present lack of job may <sensible hat on> rule it out. Will have a look anyway, with fingers crossed. Beautiful bit of the world.

Not sure who I know who's still left up there, but will spread the word through veteran Aberystwyth types for you

Hey, don't look at me. Last time I went our host went drunken AWOL and we ended up sleeping on Ynyslas estuary for the first night. Four of us in a VW Polo, fuelled only by Ginsters. That was fun

there's a guest house / cottage place called Smuggler's Cove Boatyard that my mate Geoff runs (who's kinda behind this whole venture) which takes a whole load of people and is quite near the venue.

I have done it before. It isn't so bad!

:D

Actually, I don't even know if I have a tent any more.

Yes dear, but I'm practically a pensioner and my days of camping in deepest winter are long gone, so even though I have a tent, you should still start checking for accommodation! :D

I just googled it - looks gorgeous.

Aberdyfi as well. Gorgeous around there.

<grandad mode on>

Had some of the best nights of my life at free parties around there and Tregaron. Rigs set up surrounded by mountains and lakes/reservoirs, twenty miles out from anywhere, disappearing near unnoticed after a day or two. Ah. memories.

I think I said it up there in the thread somewhere - but that bit of Wales is one of my most favourite places in the world. I have been to CAT a load of times, I used to go camping just a bit further up with an ex girlfriend, and have loads and loads of happy memories of the area myself.

And it is just beautiful.

Perhaps it would be worth assembling a selection of PROD-related stock Welsh phrases?

I'll be happy to translate :)

You're so casual :D

WE COULD GO RAMBLING!!

I bet there is PONIES!!!

I'm sure there are shit loads of places that you could stay - if someone contacts the Tourist Information place in Aberystwyth they could probably advise - not sure if there one in Machylleth
