That sounds pretty tasty but a bit too sweet for my personal taste. Glade is this weekend and my apple and lemongrass voddie is already infusing

Just bumping this thread to say we made a very tasty bubblegum Millions vodka last night. I'd reckon on it being better if left to its own devices for a couple of days rather than being shaken repeatedly by 3 eager spectators until the sweeties dissolved :D I think the cola Millions would be a good one to try too though.

We used it to make a cocktail of sorts that I christened Bubbleyum. Twas mixed with a bit of fizzy water, a drop of Vimto cordial and a few squirts of a blue raspberry one of these:

Classy :p

I had cheesy peas flavour vodka at some psuedoironic student bar once. It was, interesting, is the term, I believe. Possibly 'unique'.

put some stinky weed in the vodka. Unless I'm talking total arse the alcohol should dissolve some of the thc and give the Vodka an extra kick

I've got some voddy atm with some cheese in it

it's maturing in a darkend cupboard as we speak

I find the only *nice* flavoured vodkas (meaning I'd drink it straight, multiple times) are the old standbys - honey or bison grass (or krupnik and zubrowka if you're being all Polish 'n' stuff). They're centuries-old recipes for a good resaon.

Most of the others aren't too nice taken neat, except as a novelty on a night out (Hello, Revolution bar!). Even Cariel, which is easily the nicest vanilla vodka I've ever had, isn't too great neat. Awesome with coke or lemonade though. Cherry's also nice for that, but it can be too cough syrupy on its own.

Oh, and of course gin is really herbal vodka - that's plenty nice stuff. ;)

was that ok in the end?

my werthers original vodka worked a treat, it looked disgusting but in the dark it didn't matter that much :o was utterly lush. i remember forcing pieeye and jefe to drink some, i don't think they minded tbh :D

what shall i do this year though? hmm... some nice ideas on this thread.

have you thought of the skittles flavour vodka, where you sort out all the different colour skittle sweets and put em in the vodka.

Im not into vodka, I just remember seeing it online and thought it would be novel for voddy fans.

dunno, you could experiment with putting some sort of sour sweet in a little shot of vodka, and if it works, then do the bottle thing with more sweets.
:)

mmmmm, skittles.

i'd quite like something sour-tasting tbh. would those really sour sweets work do you think?
I don't know if they would as the reason they're sour is that they're coated in that weird stuff to stop you biting your nails. Since that dissolves pretty quickly in your mouth I don't know that it would survive in vodka.

That stuff is bitter, not sour. The clue is in the name

OK. I'm biting the bullet and making rhubarb and ginger vodka to be ready for the festive season. Can I strain it through coffee filter papers after or do I have to do the sieve/muslin thing? I might have to get muslin. Would a J cloth do?

(Bold bit) - You only need to remove green ones in my view. The drink made with the rest is good warm as well as cold. The one made with just the green sweets is pretty nasty either way.

Now I'm considering 'using up' some butter fudge in vodka. Will it be luscious and creamy or sickly and greasy? :hmm:

both :D you'll have to find a way to remove all the fatty gunk, leaving behind the buttery fudgey vodka mmmmmmm

When you make flavoured vodka you should get a bottle, put whatever in it (werthers originals, cola bottles, any sugary sweet will do), then put the vodka in, put it on a shelf for about 25 days and then drink it. It ought to be nice.

No fat in Werther's, but I think the fudge will taste nicer. I guess the gunk will get trapped in the filter paper?

Zubrowka's one of my favourite vodkas, but I'm not sure I'd like your suggestion because I don't like lime and vanilla-ish (from the grass) together.

I usually just drink it with ice - it's too nice to mix, although Zubrowka recommend it with apple juice, so maybe use Appletize or something instead of the lime and tonic.

Edit: And happy birthday! :)
