Interesting 'soft' drinks?

Mmmmmm at the moment am imbibing a lovely Cranberry presse in an effort to 'be good'. The trouble is I can sink the stuff by the gallon load.

And Purdeys (another expensive habit). Elderflower presse is nice also.

Got some rather nice raspberry cordial from M and S.

Ame is nice too.

Just a shame my local morrisons stocks ZERO in the way of nice non alky drinks....

these all sound good, i'll have to give them a try.

i often mix soda water with fruit juices, which serves the dual purposes of making it fizzy and less caloric. problem is soda water goes flat pretty quickly.

Not a pub drink but recently I've discovered hibiscus flowers. I was given a bagful by a Sudanese lady. You drop a handful into water, leave it for a while and it turns into something which tastes like ribena but without all the crap! It's amazing and I drink it nearly every day now. Been looking online and apparently it's full of iron / vitamins all of which will come in handy to stop fag cravings. You can get them in arabic shops.
Oooooo they sound great!! We don't have any arabic shops within a million miles of where I live though :( Hmmm...I'll get a-googling, must be something online...

eldeflower cordial & tonic, ice & a slice. tonic and anything actually - squeeze of lemon, juice, squash, makes it all nicely bitter and palatable. tesco do a finest morello cherry crush and a lime thingumy that aren't too sweet but are stuffed with sugar, which doesn't help with the getting fat when you stop smoking thing.

The elderflower cordial and cherry crush sound yummy - I'm off to tesco tomorrow, I'll have a look.

I'm also going to treat myself to an expensive bottle of wine, seeing as how I have cut down soooooo much. I will savour every last drop of a whole glass of the good stuff (whilst making sure that my food is almost ready in order to avoid the ciggy-trigger!).

I'm actually feeling way better than I thought I would about all this. Lots more energy already, skins looking better, sleeping better. Blimey - who'd'a thought?!

I've had two cans of root beer today – I can't get enough of the stuff

The only place I can find it in this country is in Asda. I don't know why it's not sold much. Maybe because it's like drinking antiseptic.

I always thought root beer was ginger beer. What's it taste like?

Root beer tastes exactly (and I mean exactly) like Deep Heat smells. Everyone who I've shared it with says "That tastes like medicine". And it does.

I still love it though. Waitrose sell it.

Bleurghhh  I'm afraid it now comes under the category of 'oh how vile and disgusting'! ;) A bit like those chewies that taste and smell like germolene (I mean, I like the smell, but to put it in your mouth ??!!

and a bit like putting creme fraiche in dhal

you can't beat a good root beer in the summer time. and a root beer float, the most indulgent but amazing treat. mmmmmmm.

my description would be like guiness, but sweet.

Apparently root beer is from sarsparilla, but I bought some sarsparilla cordial recently and it tasted nothing like root beer.

Medicine – yum  I would drink a bottle of Benylin if I could.

I'm teetotal and my drink of choice in the pub would be lime and soda - tends to be really cheap as well.

Cranberry and soda is great if they do it, but seems like not everywhere does.

Fentimans are lovely - I don't drink so am accustomed to trying to find nice things to drink - I like appletise too (no added sugar, unlike Schloer), and I often have a Shirley Temple when out with friends.

M&S do a really nice organge and raspberry juice, and I like making my own juice at home (orange, apple, carrot with a dash of lime is yummy).

Yes Fentimans are great - I love the traditional cola and the lemonade with ginger is fab!!

I wish there were more interestng non-alcoholic drinks in pubs. It's pretty much a choice between coke, lemonade, lime/soda and some juices.

I bought a bottle of posh stuff the other day - cost me over a quid and it had been shipped all the way from Australia

It did indeed taste like something you might find in a footballer's changing room :p

Funny thing ... I'm sure I've enjoyed the taste of sarsaparilla before now

I just got some of the elderflower cordial and it's lush, thanks for the tip :) Got tonic water too but that's horrible :( It's much nicer with just tap water. Couldn't get the morello cherry crush, but chuffed to find a new soft drink that's lovely. Although, I am being naughty right now and having a cheeky glass of barolo (as a reward for being so good :D )
