'Intelligent/good' films for expelled & problem kids - suggestions?

If they liked Adulthood and Kidulthood I'd suggest Bullet Boy.

I'm also thinking Ratcatcher, a while since I saw it and really should watch it again myself. It's a beautifully shot film, the scottish dialect might be an issue.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest is a film I think everyone should see , so that too.

Oh and Quadrophenia, the best youth movement film ever made. Impossible for marginalised teenage boys not to identify with Jimmy in some way or other.

I've been wanting to see Bullet Boy forever as my mate says it will be proper nostalgic for me having all been filmed around our area (Hackney). I can never find a torrent for it. Might try and buy it before I move back to China...

I downloaded it only a few weeks ago, can't remember where from, just googled bullet boy torrent.

E2A: just tried it, top result looks healthy

:D Not 'If', then?

I was just about to say 'If'.

followed immediately by A Clockwork Orange.

:)

Juno - 15 cert (sex, pregnanacy and relationships).

Dreamgirls and Hairspray(modern version) - both 12 cert - work as a double bill, tangentally addressing the civil rights movement through the perspective of integrated entertainment. I show both and they are loved with a passion.

I've also had success with Caberet (Rise of Nazi germany), and Chicago (justice being bought, the cult of celebrity) - both of which, i think, are 12 certs.

much as i love west side story, it's a bit 'balletic' in the first five mins for the group I tried it with.

'The Wind That Shakes the Barley' is a 15 cert, IIRC.

Also, 'Bloody Sunday'. And you could get some good classroom debates out of 'Five Minutes of Heaven'.

I saw some of If... late on telly one night while having a few beers at a mate's house, and have been meaning to watch the full thing ever since.

Still can't locate that bullet boy torrent :hmm: Found one but no seeders.
