Ingurland vs Swizzland

I didn't give a fuck about the result.

What I saw was the distinct lack of the 'lump it up field, fall onto your knees, pray' technique. I swear that I saw a few players decide that that was the way to go, remembered the horses head they woke up with and changed their mind.

Seeing one of the worlds great managers for England was strange. We do have 1/2 a chance at taking teams on.

They might be organising some extra friendlies for the summer tho

~And fuck me, they'll need to.

Saying that, I enjoyed the game, it wasn't the most exciting match ever but it did have some good moments. England looked a lot more confident at times, 2 goals you can't argue with and a general look that they could do a lot more. I thought that Rooney had a good game, he worked hard and kept hammering away, showed a maturity that has been lacking before.

They showed a big weakness in letting Swiss score but this can be worked on. I hope Capello is given a chance to take them further. He's got several feckin years til the world cup. :o

The Swiss only scored cause for some reason Cap moved Rooney to the left for a bit then changed it again after i think. Cap needs to realize this is england not italy.

Spot on. For the first time ever watching England you could see that some of the players were scared of breaching the gameplan and pissing off the manager.

I don't know a huge amount about Capello and have only ever really seen his most recent real madrid side to provide an example of his approach, but I think it's safe to assume that he'll tighten up the range of possible results. There'll probably be far fewer embarassing draws and losses founded on disorganisation and lack of ball retention, but I don't expect to see very entertaining football either.

And it's that last bit that worries me. I can easily see a situation where Capello's England do, what is perceived to be, as only the absolutely necessary in a very pragmatic style lacking flair; and as a consequence the press and the public start to get on his back, principally because he's foreign.

By way of indication Motty and Lawro's commentary was utterly moronic tonight. They were relentlessly critical of the formation and went on and on about running and getting people into the box, the most basic kind of tactical bullshit that fails every time we try it at international level.

Rooney should have his bollocks stamped on for not singing the National Anthem, thick fucker probably doesn't know the words though.
If he doesn't want to sing it he shouldn't paly for England. Let him go and work on a building site, he looks the part.

God your life is depressing :( You don't believe that, you're not as much of a cunt as you like to pretend.... truth be told you probably don't have the intelligence to be. I don't really get why you persist with this shit... is it so you can run back to the naughty (but ever so pathetic) kids elsewhere and show off? Try and be in their gang? From memory, they paid you as little mind there as they do here.

I don't know why it bothers me so much, probably because I've met you, you're a nice person, this stupid 2004 troll act isn't doing anyone any favours.

Yeah, I thought it was a promising performance. A few players looked really out of sorts in the first half (Cashly), but generally everyone looked up for it, and worked well for each other. A few less egos on the pitch than under McClaren.

There's always a honeymoon period for managers though. When Keegan arrived, he was hailed as a breath of fresh air after Hoddle's mind games (and being a tosser).

I wonder what comedy vegetable Capello will become the first time England really cock up an important game. Capello the cabbage?

Andorra on 6th September. They might be organising some extra friendlies for the summer tho

We should organise some Home Internationals to sharpen the pampered boys up. Playing other mediocre European teams (note, I do not count France among this but if further games are organised, they are bound to be against teams that haven't qualified for the Euros) isn't going to raise their fire.

The game was nothing to get excited about, although it was a solid enough start. Capello knows that he has a little time to get things sorted out and hopefully last night was the first tentative step on the road back.

Dull first half showcasing technical incompetence and inability to pass the ball. Second half better. A dull future ahead with tax-dodging fascist supporting manager. It's hard to care tbh.

That wasn't too bad. Cole & bentley clearly deserve thier places in the team.
I liked the way we were patient and passed out from the back a lot more.

Brown is shite and shouldn't be allowed to be in a squad ever again. Gerrad needs to get used to where he is playing and play a lot higher up. Jenas needs to fuck off. Yeah he scored but i didn't notice him at all before or after that and i'm not convoinced rooney can play up top by himself.

We need to sort out RB and GK very very badly.

I'm very worried that lampard would slot into that team perfectly and actully look good and do his job(ie score). I'd love to see a midfield of gerrad, hargreevs and barry to let lampard and cole basicly do what the fuck they want and with bentley playing down the right.

That's why they're doing their job and earning a few thousand between them, while Fabio is doing his and making mi££ions. One advantage of going to the game last night was that I didn't have to listen to those two idiots.

But this is Fabio's team - nobody does what the fuck they want!

Screw Lampard....let Bentley and Young play on the wings with Rooney and A N Other up front...j cole or Agbonlahor.

Agree that the defence needs sorting more than anything. Goalkeeper....who knows, RB....Richards, LB....Cole needs to get it sorted. He's got the talent.

Im tired of gerrard/lampard, it was nice to have a change, although i hope he goes back to 4-4-2. He has played that formation through out his career apparently, so this was a surprise.
