Inexcusably shit radio. The definitive list.

All of Virgin Radio

Nick Ferrari on LBC

Jo Fucking Whiley

Zane Fucking Lowe

um....and anything with Edith Bowman on it

Edith Bowman :mad::mad:

Yes, Morten Harket said 'fuck' on your show. No, you did not have to badmouth aha at every single given opportunity for the following six months.

Grrrrrrr.

The Organist Entertains. Nobody under the age of 70 listens to it. Ditto "Friday Night is Music Night".

"The Organist Entertains" is a quality programme and often forms the soundtrack to my sex life. Long live Nigel Ogden and his collection of massive organs. :D

Morten Harket said fuck on radio 1? Really? Always did like him...

 i can't think of anything less appropriate....

There is lots of crap nowadays, even on radio 4.

The best though has to be the The Shipping Forecast, closely followed by Weather Reports From Coastal Stations.

he's started with a bit of a fast one

Can I just say pretty much most morning programmes with opinionated, wanker DJs. Crispy and I have picked one of the most painful ones so we slam off the alarm and get out of bed.

That one with Bam Bam is a particular hate for me.

radio 4 drama is invariably bollocks.
tbf, I can think of four I've enjoyed in the last 12 years :)

One involved Johnny Vegas, one involved 12 AA-style (gently humorous) shares (and I subsequently used it at the rehab I worked in) and... and.... there was one about an obsessive bloke with a telescope, and possibly another one starring Johnny Vegas :o

I was somewhat hooked on Baldi - the detective priest - but the last handful of programmes were a bit pants IMHO.

1xtra has gone down the pan since it's schedule was reorganised a few months ago - no more Jason and Iyare in the morning, Trevor Bloody Nelson on at every opportunity in the morning and in the fri and sat early evening slot which used to be Semtex's mixtape show.

They used to use the weekday 7-9 slot for a specialist show each day e.g. hip hop, dancehall, garage but now it's another bland mix of trying to appeal to a wider audience with all the specialist shows shoved off to middle of the night slots when you're either asleep or out yourself

You definitely wouldn't have enjoyed Christian O'Connell's 15-hour breakfast show today then. How arrogant do you have to be to think "I know what'll be a good way to mark the station's 15th birthday! ME! ALL THE LIVE LONG DAY!"

I listen to the footy on Radio5 quite a lot, but you've got to be careful 'cos there's so much wrong with what happens either side of it.

Tune in too early on a Saturday and there's Eammon Holmes, with his winning mix of GMTV fuckwittery.

*shudder*

And nothing puts the fear into me more than "after the news, Richard Bacon.."

Christian O'Connell is an unfunny wanker.

The only andy hamilton thing i did not like was trevors world of sport which he didn,t appear in but the million pound radio show, old harry's game and revolting people superb.nick revel quite good didn't think living with the enemy would work with that tory git brandrith but it did;)

The Million Pound Radio Show was ace! My dad's got loads of them on tape, I would borrow them but I'm not allowed anymore after I lost all his cassettes of If You're So Clever, Why Aren't You Rich :(

The BBC London Breakfast show with Joanne Good. Her co-presenter, Paul Ross is fine but Jo Good has to be one of the worst presenters anywhere. She is always getting things wrong, like recently claiming all owls were blind! She has totally irrational/ indefensible dislikes such as cyclists. She never listens to guests and people who phone in, often asking them a question which they've just answered. I've no idea how come she's been there so long.

Well I can't listen to any radio with ads on, which cuts the choice down a bit. Have found R4 toooo annoying to listen to as well, apart from the weekly trawl through the Listen Again page which does bring gems.

I'll say it again, though, BBC7 Listen Again is superb. I now have a treasured collection of Goons, Tony Hancock, PG Wodehouse, Just William, Charles Dickens, Conan Doyle, Brontes, Agatha Christie, Steve Coogan, Wilkie Collins, Oscar Wilde, etc etc.

There's some life changing stuff on there - for example last Tuesday's Martyn Wade play about Hermit Lucas, the "celebrated Victorian hermit".

*buys a horse blanket and heads off to live in the kitchen*

BBC7 rocks  I love the crime and thrillers hour, especially when there's some Kathleen Turner-led VI Warshawski on.

Some of the plays are very good like mclevy with brian cox and things like saturday night sunday morning .they are a bit like films some are bad some are superb

Just about any 'Global Radio' station, especially Capital & Heart, which are basically national stations pretending to be local.

New OFCOM rules means they only have to have one 3 hour 'local' show a day Mon-Fri, the other 21 hours & 24 hours at weekends can all be networked from London. And, 'local' is taking the piss with the new 'approved areas', which means, for example, Heart Kent, Heart Surrey, Heart Sussex, and Heart Solent will share one 3 hour show from Fareham in Hampshire, with everything else from London.

RIP local commercial radio.
