In what order do you clean the bathroom?

two principles for cleaning -

1) clean the cleanest thing first and work through to the dirtiest.

2) clean from the top down.

bathroom cleaning, like most things, is a matter of combining the two. However, some jobs get done as isolated jobs. The inside of the loo gets done when I remember to descale it before bed (so the descaler has time to work).

The sink gets done thoroughly while i clean my teeth.

Everything else pretty much has to wait. My mirror hardly ever needs cleaning because it isn't over the sink.

Depends how frivolous I'm feeling :D Sometimes sink first, sometimes bog. The floor only gets done about twice a year cos I fucking detest mopping. Oh, and the shower gets a good dosing of mildew remover when it's looking a bit black

eek - god no. especially not if you're going to be using the same cloth/sponge!

it works for washing up, too.
I was thinking of cleaning floors when I was a kitchen porter - I'm sure the instructions on the detergent said start with the worst bit first

Why would you clean the mirror?

Because mirrors should ALWAYS be clean and sparkly  I have been known to clean other people's mirrors :o

Do you all clean the entire bathroom at once?(cept OU)

Our toilet/sink/mirror get cleaned more than the bath coz they get used more(many times daily).

And after realising that I was having to do the sink twice I soon stopped cleaning the sink first :D

Let me guess, your bathroom is made out of mud and hair
I chuck vinegar down the bog occasionally and clean the basin as I use it... other than that I don't see anything else being worth doing.

It is such a tedious job I vary the order every week - but it is still a tedious job.

every week??

The simple way to make it less tedious is to do it less frequently. :D

Personally I get much more satisfaction out of cleaning when I'm starting from a point of utter squalor.

1) Pick up stuff off the floor, throw away all the empty shampoo/conditioner/shower gel bottles/used razors that have been collecting - I notice no-one else does this. Am I and my girls dirty bitches of the year or are some of you being a little reticent?

2) Shelf and mirrors, sink, bath, the other shelves sometimes, bog seat. Brush bog innards. Vacuum floor.

Fantastic thread missfran - LOL.

Yup, except add mop the floor and take away clean mirrors, because I have none.

But there's no order to it and, except the floor, and the bath which gets cleaned after every use, it's not done anything like weekly. I'm amazed so many of you are so Anthea!

I usually do mirror, sink, bin, bath, toilet, floor. But every time I do this, I realise it's stupid because after I've cleaned the bin, bath and toilet I rinse stuff in the sink. The sink should really be done last, shouldn't it?

I'm preparing myself for the task tonight: I haven't done it for 3 weeks :( :o

Clean what?

I cleaned the toilet on sunday. Yesterday I cleaned the sink. Today I have cleaned the bath. I'm not sure whether to do the floor or the tiles round the bath/shower next. I barely ever clean the window sill because it's always covered in various bits and pieces. I don't think I've ever cleaned the mirror (maybe he does?), it's not over our sink.

1. Remove all products from bathroom to allow for empty working area
2. Spray cleany stuff all over loo, bath, tiles behind loo and sink, shelves
3. Spray different cleany stuff over tiles over bath to kill mildew
4. Start by wiping down first lot of tiles
5. Then loo and add bleach at end
6. Then empty sink and clean that
7. Then tiles over bath
8. Then bath
9. Then clean floor
10. Replace all products

Occasionally, clean the radiator towel dryer thingy that gets dust behind but this is a pain in the arse job

Oh, and always clean the mirror first - generally done when I'm polishing the glass on all the pictures/mirrors around the house

(Dear God. Firstly, I can't believe I've read this entire thread and secondly I can't believe I've just answered it in such detail!)

I failed to clean the bathroom last night :o

Tonight, I swear.

PS. You all love this thread, you cleaning tarts.

You do not know my family - it is in a state of utter squalor every week. What's more, it is my contribution to domestic bliss.

:D Sorry ss but :D again :D

Why do you have to do the whole thing all at once?

I'll notice a dirty bit and clean it. That's it, job done. Why do I then have to clean all the other bits as well? That would be a disincentive to bother at all, surely?

Because your way, you'll never have a completely clean, shiny bathroom. That lovely feeling when it's all clean and unsullied.

Is there any limescale remover that I can actually leave on a vertical surface?
We've got some crap that no amount of scrubbing will clean but limescale remover just slides off... :(

I finally cleaned it last night. I mixed it up a little, because I'm crazy that way. I did mirror, bath, toilet, sink.

Soak some tissues in vinegar and plaster them on the vertical surface (like when you were a kid and threw wet tissues at the ceiling and they stuck). Leave for 15 minutes, remove tissues and wipe.

This also works for cleaning the the light cord-pull.

I had never ever considered cleaning the light cord pull thing. :o (congratulations on getting it done).

I only have malt vinegar will that do? :)

Honestly, have a look at the light cord pull - it'll be filthy at the bottom where all the dirty hands have touched it.

Malt vinegar will do, although obviously if you've got limescale remover that'll work well.

Of course! I could substitute limescale remover for vinegar! My brain really isn't on. :D

I had a look at the light pull and it's pretty disgusting. :(

Told you. But it's easy to clean using the tissue method. And then you'll feel all great at being the sort of person who cleans the light cord pull thing. :D

I only ever clean the whole bathroom at once if I have visitors on a par with my parents coming to stay, and that rarely happens :)

Of course you will! Simply move house!

I had a clean and shiny bathroom only last christmas. Can't say it did anything for me tbh.
