In praise of Sinead O'Connor.

The colonic irrigation technique?

Fuck you Purves and your dastardly bad timing. That was a slayer in context.

She does some great Irish Rebel Songs such as Cuimhnigh Arna Gcimi
don't know that one.

and 'gcimi' sounds like something out of Lord of Rings.
I'm guessing Firky is referring to "Ag Caoineadh Ar An Giomach", "Weeping Over The Lobster.", a particularly lugubrious ballad laden with impenetrable metaphors.

Listened to 'The Lion and the Cobra' and 'I do not want what I haven't got' to death, then got bored. I think I still have the tapes somewhere :)

She has the most expressive eyes ever.

I knew Sinead had a rough start in life...but didn't know all the details. I'll be getting this

Yep

I was transfixed the first time I saw her on TOTP singing Mandinka, in her tutu, big boots, and skinhead. Went out, bought the album, played it to within an inch of its life, and some more. Seen her twice, almost named my daughter after her. One of the finest, most heartbreaking, brutal, and vulnerable voices in the universe. In fact, no one ever came close for sheer kicking me in the guts, apart from Janis Joplin, and as much as I love Janis, she's a country mile beneath Sinead

I could go on about her writing and producing for a while too, but I won't

Always liked her. She sings from her heart and her heart is huge.

Yes. I wish her all the best.

just found her version of the parting glass - bit wonderful - perfect song for her to sing. (weirdly its not available on Spotify).

That whole album is great if you can find it.

My auntie Anne loved Sinead and bought this album for me. I listened to the parting glass a lot when she died last year and sang it with my mum after the funeral. :)/:(

That’s so fucking awful. Poor lad and the whole family.
