Well, I wouldn't say fan as the only record I had was NSEC but I did use to boogie around me bedroom to it when I were a nipper. Say Hello Wave Goodbye, Bedsitter, top songs.

I'm still a bit upset about my missing reggae version of " i want to know what love is"

someone probably is a bit upset about having found it.......

:) I miss my "All about Eve" album,,cant remember whats it called,,last heard it about 12 yrs ago,,

Go to a charity shop - there's a copy in every single one.

Cos everyone else chucked theirs out rather than losing 'em :)

as i've probably spoken about before...when people ask about my first heartbreak, rather than thinking of my first boyfriend or whateveer, my thoughts always jump back to the time a dj from sheffield stole virtually all my 7 & 12" reggae singles, and a few albums.

among the singles were shedloads of rocksteady and studio 1 7" my friend's dad brought to England - & gave to me before he went home because he knew how much i coveted them.

i remember the pain when i truly realised they were gone, and gone for good.

:( x 1,000, 000

foo, i'm not a violent type but if you want i will kill this man for you.

Not lost but only just discovered its scratched to buggery. My 12" of Tinseltown in the Rain by The Blue Nile. It is a record of tremendous sentimental value to me. We found an old Sterophonic record cabinet recently & ive been going through some of my old records & i was really, really gutted when i found the damage. :(

Can I mention a video? In 1987 there was a TV programme (The Way We Were) which was a compilation of the best clips from Tony Wilson's TV show from the punk era. It had just about anybody who was anybody on it, including things like Elvis Costello's first TV appearance and many other similar gems. I had a video of it until 2001 when I moved from Acton to Brixton, threw a load of stuff out and realised afterwards that I'd accidentally jettisoned the video too - along with one nearly as good which was an Old Grey Whistle Test compilation. Gutted.

This is a very weird coincidence , I had `The Way We Were ` which as you say had some classic clips of the early days , I very rarely lend out cds , or videos because very often other people dont seem to have the same kind of personal attatchment to those type of things but I did make an exception with that recording and I still get FUCKING MAD  everytime I am reminded of it .On the same tape was the history of Punk in Czechoslovakia , it was a piece of shit really but it had Punk in the title so it was recorded. This may be a call out but I lent it to some arshole on Urban 75 whose username was Oi `n`Anarchy who was going out with some Czech girl and wanted to impress her and asked if anyone had a copy. After promising he would record it and return it the fucker disappeared.

BTW I also have the City of Tiny Lights , it was on a OGWT special if I remember correctly it also had a video of Tubular Bells with skiers ? and a Led Zep number which I cant remember right now but was put to a black n white film of Busby Berkely type dancers.

Two albumns - one vinyl - Taxi Connection, which is reggae/dancehall compilation. And one totally irrecoverable tape by a band called design. It was their demo tape that appeared in our house for some reason. Got played loads - sort of electro-pop ballads, oddly enough. They never got signed, and I never knew the name of the singer so never to be found again.

2 out of 3 pieces of vinyl from the 'Haul up selector' Trojan box set (can't find it on vinyl anymore)

A video of channel 4's reggae night from years ago with Rockers, Jules Holland in Jamiaca, Bob Marley film and the Harder they come film, lent to a mate who left it on a train. Can get most of the films again but Jules Holland in proving fairly hard to find (although I think it was released again recently) featured interviews with Lee Perry, Sly & Robbie and a few others.

As for videos. My g/f taped over my Pink Floyd at Knebworth 1990 with some pish or other. Ok it was only 3 songs i taped off the tv but i stood in the pissing wet rain for hours to see them. I might forgive her some day.

I lost/had stolen a ROIR cassette of the first Bad Brains record. It was my best cassette ever, Fearless Vampire Killers never failed to excite whenever I hit play.

A Roy Orbison double circa A Black and White Night. It was all his songs but recorded by an all star cast with him on vocals.

American Spring- I lost this not once but twice. The original is worth about £50+ now and the re-issue is worth about £30. Great record by the Beachboys wives.

The first two Dwight Twilley Band albums, sadly they have never been re released on CD.

Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel - White Lines :(

I bought that when it came out, but somewhere in the last few years it went missing. I think it might have been when I was living in a shared flat in Stokie around 2001. I've been through all the records in my collection, too. I know it's gone anyway coz I've still got Step Off, which was next to it since I 1985, and now it's all on its owny lonely. :(

I threw away a box of them not long back. I found loads of them in a warehouse in Acton not long after it came out. I always thought it was shite so I finally flung the ones I didn't flog to the Notting Hill Exchange all those years ago. I have 2 boxes of Snowy White's Bird of Paradise found in the same warehouse. They are propping up the work bench in my shed though otherwise they'd have gone too I fancy.
A bloke borrowed my Spiral Scratch and left behind a Mahavishnu Orchestra wrongun record as a swappy gesture. If he hadn't done that I'd never have remembered who had it.
Don't lend that bristle krs bloke fuckall either I can tell ya

I had my entire record collection stolen in 1988 and couldn't bear to pay for them again. Only ever bought a few pieces of vinyl since.

 :( :(

(((Maggot)))

I think I've been lucky. I don't seem to have Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica any more, but another search may yet dig it out

Otherwise. all present and correct ...

I agree with what was said earlier, collections are irreplaceable ...

On vinyl I've lost Deepcover- Breakthrough, The Tidy colours EP 2, Smokin Bert Cooper- Just gettin warm, Stimulant DJ's - hoover time (:D), Barabas & OD1 - Jack of clubz.... ummmm.....

But the most tragic loss was an Eric Morillo CD that came free with DJMag in 2000 or 2002 or somewhere in between. It was the most soulful, funky and uplifting house CD I owned. No matter how much of a foul mood I was in that could lift me up. AND I LOST I. grrrrr. But I have a lot of the choons from that CD on vinyl now so .

I have also recently lost a shirt that was sent from Canada as an xmas pressy last year :( I'm particularly gutted about that as the person who sent it nearly bought it for me whilst I was out there, so it had some special memories attached. I hope it turns up! </ramble>

Husker Du's Metal Circus and the Makes No Sense VHS in some misguided attempt to educate/get in the pants of a girl who didn't realise Therapy? hadn't written the original of 'Diane'
Needless to say I saw neither items ever again. Or her pants :(

Keep meaning to replace them, but just wouldn't feel the same
