I'm utterly fed up with spammers, phishers, virus spreaders and fruitcakes

Hrm. I must be a nobody. I get a few hundred emails a day from various mailing lists and get about 1 spam every two or three months. I issue my snotmail address to lists that I do not trust. That gets hammered. Then I got my own server/hoster thingie and that runs spam asassin. Zero (more or less)

Someone's just sent out over a hundred forged emails purporting to be from urban75 to turning-point.co.uk, so I'm now getting them all returned.

Grrr!

Can you not just set up a filter...? I've got a filter that matches various Email worms and these are automatically filtered to a "worms" folder...

No, because they're being returned to an active email address.

Because some person/virus mailed out a load of forged emails purporting to come from an active urban75 email address, so they were bounced back to me.

If its a virus then isn't a bit pointless returning them... I used to try to notify people when this happened but it came so common I gave up. (And espcially when I got a phone call from someone who blamed me for having a virus)

If its a spam email then a jaunty note to [email protected] would do the trick... Anytime our isps have had people bitching about us then we've had to turn it around quickly. (Usuall some clueless idiot...)

Blog comment spammers... Grrrr...! They can go fuck'em selves... Slope off for a lunch at pub with a mate and come back and there's umpteen spammy comments on the corporate blog.

I'm just deleting them off the server as they flood in.

Mailwasher marks them for deletion, but I still need to check through just in case there's a legitimate email lurking therein.

I've just got one in french offering me the bungee jump of lifetime! Beats the normal meds online that I get 10 times daily,

If it's a Wordpress blog, this kind of thing helps ditch the comment spam - I had the same problem.

I've just started fucking spam through the feedback form on my site for the first time.

Grrrr!

Another forum I'm on (running phpBB) has had trouble with random posting bots. They post up seemingly innocuous, if meaningless, messages (such as "I agree") on lots of threads. But they have links to various gambling websites in their signatures - presumably to increase their weighting on Google.

The scary thing is that these bots have managed to sign themselves up to the forum, find threads and start posting.

I'm loathe to do it but I might sign up to one of those paid services where users have to verify their identity before the mail goes through - although I'm not sure how that would work with urban75 feedback comments,
