I'm rubbish at packing-anyone else?

I rarely use an iron, I don't buy things that need ironing. :o I am the weird one here, aren't I?.

No I haven't picked up an iron for years. The only time someone mentioned it was a lovely nurse in a hospital. She told me I looked ruffled and she was right :)

Why? You only have one head (I hope  )

Well, one is at work in case I get really wet on the way in on my bike. Although now I wear a rain hat under my helmet I don't use it very often.

One I use every day, and the other is a spare (actually I tend to take it away with me as it's smaller than my everyday one).

I had a really bad haircut last September, and I've had it cut twice since and it's still not recovered - it will take another couple of months to get the bits she hacked off to a reasonable length to have a decent cut.

Not at all!! We misplaced our iron for over a year, not that it's been used since we found it right enough.
It was bought so I could do encaustic art, basic flat iron.

I also do the rolling of clothes rather than fold when travelling. And because of where I live I can usually hang washing outside to blow dry = no creases, weeps will know what I mean.

Tell me what's there that you wouldn't use at all in a week?

Make-up, facewash, clarifying lotion, protect and perfect serum, eye cream, moisturiser, facewipes, shampoo, conditioner, heat protecting stuff, hairspray, brush, comb, dry shampoo, straighteners, hairdryer, bobbles, shower gel, body butter, razor, flannel, nail polish, nail polish remover, emery boards and buffer, cotton wool, cotton buds, deodorant, perfume, tweezers, nail clippers, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash. I'm sure there's more. :o

The stuff in bold I wouldnt.

If I were going away for 5 days,, I wouldnt even take half the stuff not in bold.

Learn how to roll all your clothes. Then just be realistic about everything else you really need. I'd love to see some of the women on here after a few days without showers, makeup, and hair stuff. That's not a criticism, I would really love to see you then  :D

I do fine at glastonbury without a shower and hair stuff but this isn't glastonbury this is work.

Best person for this I ever knew was a friend who was able to go to Amsterdam for three days with everything he needed in the pockets of his Barbour.

I can manage, for both me and my wife, with one part filled carry on bag for a weekend.

In the summer I will go to UK for two months with one check-in and one carry one bag. Easily enough for two months.

I wouldn't take things like shower gel since these are so cheap to buy at the destination.

TBH I am so used to packing for the kids and having to sacrifice my personal stuff to make space for the mountains of shite that they need that I've forgotten what I would take if it were just me.

One of those little tins of Vaseline, a small bottle of Dettol hand sanitiser, a small pack of wet wipes, a small packet of tissues, maybe a favourite lipstick. Sometimes a toothbrush and toothpaste, if it's a night flight I rely on the freebies.

I have another load of shampoo, deodorant and stuff in my other bathroom in my other flat back home, and I only take carry on luggage, no check in stuff, so you can only take 100ml, so no point.

I sometimes fly back with more stuff though, a particular deodorant and toothpaste, I love Kingfisher fennel and you can't get it over here.

Yeah I will ta. I was fully prepared for pisstaking because I wouldn't have started the thread if I wasn't but you seem to have a real problem with it.

soulman is an especially miserable individual who has a problem with EVERYTHING. Maybe it distracts him from his own issues or something

Makeup would probably amount to a favourite lipstick. Maybe an eyeliner and mascara if I needed to dress up.

I'd possibly take a wash 'n' go type shampoo/conditioner and shower gel. But I usually don't take any, either I'm going home to the UK and I have some at my apartment back home, or if I'm staying in an hotel I rely on freebies, sometimes it's excellent quality, like Molton Brown stuff, others, it's okay, who cares, it's just for a few days.

Even toothbrush and toothpaste is touch and go, if I'm going home, and taking a night flight, I use the flight freebies, and I have duplicates at home in any event. Oh, and mouthwash, nope, not since I took a bottle to Switzerland when I was about 11 and it leaked and all my freshly laundered and packed clothes were damp and stank minty when I was unpacking.

Likewise, don't bother with the other hair stuff, have a hairdryer in both homes, don't bother with straighteners ever. Don't take a hairdryer if I'm staying elsewhere in an hotel, because it'll have a hairdryer in the room, even if it is a bit pathetic.

Again, perfume, don't usually bother. I don't check in luggage, so I don't bother taking perfumes, because they're too big. If I can get hold of some of those little teeny tiny freebie perfume samples I sometimes take one or two of those, they'll usually last a weekend or a week. When you're buying perfume I recommend you ask for the sample sizes for travelling. They're also useful in any event, if you're getting ready for a night out, and you use your regular big bottle at home, but you can slip the sample sizes in your purse for if you get a bit sticky while dancing all night and want to freshen up in the loos and spritz yourself.

But probably about 95 per cent of the stuff you think is essential probably isn't.
