I'm rubbish at packing-anyone else?

More money, less stuff.

When packing it's easy to forget that there tend to be shops wherever you might choose to go.

Why would I buy a load of stuff that I have already to take to brighton? That's mental, especially as some of it is quite expensive like the clinique face stuff. I would have to bring it back with me anyway so it's pointless.

I might use these on a weekly basis, but why do you need facewash AND facewipes?? WTF is wrong with water people??
And if I buffed my nails before I went I wouldn't take that. You're only meant to do that every 6 weeks or so(the one I use)

(oh yes, just remembered water down there is rank :p )

Because I'll use the facewash in the shower (I am so looking forward to showers) but I use the wipes to get my eyeliner/mascara off.

I bet you any money that you could easily divide your stuff up into three categories.

1. Clothes and toiletries you actually need.

2. Stuff you're tempted to take just in case.

3. And stuff that you finally chuck into the luggage because you're taking everything else so it would be a shame not to give yourself all the options.

Get rid of the last two altogether. Chances are you won't need them and if you do you can always get something there. Think of it as a souvenir.

Well exactly. I used to have a friend who was horrified that I use nothing other than soap and water on my face. She said my skin would be dreadful in my fifties. Last time I saw her she was a mass of wrinkles and my skin is fine in comparison to hers, even though I smoke. She has paid out thousands of pounds on absolute rubbish over the years, and for what?

Have you ever tried getting kohl eyeliner or waterproof mascara off with soap and water? Also, soap really dries my skin and I never buy it.

Tell me what's there that you wouldn't use at all in a week?

Make-up, facewash, clarifying lotion, protect and perfect serum, eye cream, moisturiser, facewipes, shampoo, conditioner, heat protecting stuff, hairspray, brush, comb, dry shampoo, straighteners, hairdryer, bobbles, shower gel, body butter, razor, flannel, nail polish, nail polish remover, emery boards and buffer, cotton wool, cotton buds, deodorant, perfume, tweezers, nail clippers, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash. I'm sure there's more. :o

I wouldn't use the stuff in bold. You could get it down to less too I'm sure, don't hotel rooms usually have a hairdryer? And you need a little mini swiss army knife, that'll cover nail clippers, tweezers, nailfile in one small item.

:D

"protect and perfect serum" - is this what your superpowers are based on, and if you run out, you might not be able to fight crime until you can get back to your underground laboratory?

christ, lugging around cosmetics is the worst! I went to my mates for a week and mine took up an entire overnight bag!

I take a fair bit, but not as much as Sparklefish!

Although I can fit most my makeup in my handbag anyway.

Shampoo/ conditioner is a must, as is moisturiser(s).

BF gets away with one shirt or something. I take loads.

For five days I'd take deodorant, moisturiser, razor and gel, toothbrush and paste, maybe a small shampoo. I usually carry emery boards or a nail file all the time anyway, it's one of my habits, so I wouldn't count that.

Mind you, add in all the electronics and the chargers and spare batteries for the electronics and the cables to connect the electronics to each other... eh.

They do but are usually tiny little low wattage things. I have long hair and lots of it so it would take ages to dry (20 mins+). I need tweezers to tidy up my eyebrows. Nail varnish in case my toes chip and I want to wear flip flops, nail files in case I break a nail etc etc I really don't want a swiss army knife.

:D

Cock off, and that goes for you too geoff. Skirt wearing ponce. ;)

To be honest, I think I'm the exception here. When I stay with people they think I've left a suitcase on the train.....

Not that weird; all of my exes have been the same (the only people I'm really qualified to comment on, apart from my sister I suppose, and she travels pretty light too as far as I know).

If you don't wear make up then you can get away with just using water on your face, but water alone won't get it off. Like sparklefish I don't use soap on my face so I use aqueous cream in the morning, and face wipes in the evening to get make up off.
