I'm now on a 4 day week

They offer it at most companies in Holland (or rather most companies are legally obliged to offer it).

I still can't afford to lose 20% (especially as my missus has lost her job) do it but I'd love to.

What's the best day to have off though? I reckon Wednesday :)

Would you believe it -- we have JUST had an email round asking us if anybody would like to take on a four day week based on a defined set of criteria. Talk about a timely thread!

I do a 4 day week....... which is great....

I then do sessional teaching at £23 p/h on my day off which adds up nicely :)

I do a F/T week over 3 days. The other week I finished at 9pm on the Wednesday and was not back till 8am the following Wednesday without using annual leave. It's tiring but more productive than 5 normal days.

When we had redundancies put to us in December 2008 I put the proposal of a four day week to my line manager, in front of the rest of the department (10 of us). He failed to mention this to the Partners, and four of us lost our jobs. Twat. I asked one of the Partners why it hadn't been considered - his jaw dropped - I really think they would have jumped at that.

I do 4 days a week now. Got hours cut (and pay) by a day a couple of weeks ago.
Tbh, LOVE having 2 days off, makes big diff. but I can't survive long term on it. Low wage anyway so it's hurts!

*shrug*

*goes to drawing board to make plans*

Both Mrs ashie259 and I do a four-day week since she came back off maternity leave. She has Wednesdays off and I have Friday off to look after our little boy, and he's at a childminder the other three days. Seems to be working out fine so far. I certainly love the long weekend - although my Friday is not exactly a day 'off' in the strict sense, as our little boy is one and physically exhausting. Still, I love having the day with him to myself and going back to work on Monday with no recollection whatsoever of what I was doing the previous Thursday.
