I'm being taken to see The Fall!

I find the best way to enjoy a Fall gig is to get pissed.

That's what I intend to do

First time for me. I only actually listened to more than one song a few months ago, and was rather surprised to find that I liked them-ah

We went to see The fall last night in Liverpool. He sang new stuff which isn't even available yet but we still had a good night. Mark E Smith was pissed/out of it and had to keep reading lyrics from a sheet, god love him :D

Playing 'Wings' at the mo ... :D

They're playing Wings or you are? If they're doing it on this tour then I'm straight down the ticket office. I've seen The Fall more times than I can remember and they've never played it once, the buggers.

Greatest song ever.

At one live Fall gig leapt up and down as they did the Kinks classic Victoria whilst at the same time giving Mark E Smith the V sign. Put a smile on his face. :D

i saw them in sheffield it was ace even though he only was on stage for about 3 songs. my friend at work met him a few weeks ago he was nice he tried to get her to start smoking again and stopped her from being runover by a car apparently

you mean you saw them the night before posting this? I was at that un, and I thought it was mindnumbingly bog-standard. Perfectly decent performances, good setlist, but no real bite to it, mark e going thru the motions. He had his eyes closed for most of the set!

they were. jolly good for about four songs, in a sub HMHB/Blockhead kinda way. but not good enough to keep us out from paying a prolonged visit to the smoking area!

no i saw them about 12 years ago in sheffield. saw them last night in london and it was shit, left before end cos bored.

Saw them last night at the Roadmender in Northampton.Disappointing really, new stuff all sounded the same.Band members were lifeless like session musicians, drums were too loud compared to other instruments.Quite surreal nodding heads to the beat standing next to Frank Skinner though!

Or his marbles :D

No, no reason. We'll have another go - May 3rd I think. I wonder if they didn't sell enough advanced tickets, cos most people we know were going to pay on the door.

MES has a miniscule cancellation/no-show rate.

You can say that again. I saw them once at Bradford Uni in about 1989 or 1990, when it had been snowing a blizzard all day long, all the roads and rail were shut down, there was no way this gig was going ahead. Can't rember why, but I made it there, along with at tops 50 other people, probaly more like 20, enough to form two very short lines the width of the stage in a massive Uni Rec hall, and, lo and behold, the Fall turn up and play a blinding set (days when he still had a big wooden lectern to read from). Was the closest you'll ever get to them playing at your own birthday party.

And not only that, but NOT ONE WORD to the audience!

My favourite Fall track is a really early one, "Repetition", which they definitely won't play when you see them:-

"President Carter loves repetition
Chairman Mao he dug repetition
Repetition in China
Repetition in America
Repetition in West Germany
Simultaneous suicide"

A mate of mine produced one of their albums in the late 90s. I was on the guest list to see them, but Mark E Smith broke the band up the previous night.

Have seen them twice paying though, including the last ever gig at the Hammerrsmith Palais last year.
