reg varney (and i didn't know this til i heard it on the news) was 50 when he was playing a 30 year old. did any of us question it at the time? nooooo

blakey is still alive, only 72, they're ain't many left from the buses tbf, just blakey and olive as far as i can tell

He campaigned in Morden for Labour at the last election. A friend of mine who works for Merton Council says one of her favourite memories is seeing Blakey going past her 2nd floor window on top of an open to bus shouting "Vote Labour" in the same tone as he used to say "I'll get you Butler!"
