If you were going to a festival, and it was probably going to rain...

It's not a case of changing your shoes all the time though, he's not taking 3 pairs of stilettos. More that you need different footwear for different weather etc.

You need ONE GOOD pair of boots for all weathers and maybe flipflops if it's warm :D

The idea of him in stilettos made me :D

  How many days you going for??? 4 different footwear choices!! You're worse than me, and I'm a girl!! :p

My boots are pretty waterproof but not perfect, and if it's shit mud I'd rather wear wellies

trainers for if it's sunny and i wear shorts or whatever. and if i'm walking around all day and djing / dancing all night, theboots can get heavy

flipflops for running to the bog, as pointed out.

I don't really have any trousers in a quick-drying material, so I'm taking skirts/dresses and leggings instead. Plus a pair of jeans, a couple of t-shirts, hoodie, kagoule, boots, trainers and flipflops (just in case). And my cat hat.

ooh, just thought, i'm taking my leather trousers, they're waterproof. They were great at Glastonbury last year, I could sit down anywhere without worrying about it.

Putting them back on next day was a bit grim though...

I've got a spare pair if anyone wants to borrow them, size 14 I think.
Too much for me to carry two pairs though, you'll have to meet up and take them off me before setting off, or persuade someone else to.

:D

I'm adding trainers if it's completely dry and hot. I can't wear boots for 3 days if it's baking.

:D I don't wear any footwear two days in a row(unless I absolutely had to), I was just pointing out what you NEED ;)

Tbh Jefe I can't say as I ever notice my boots. I can dance, walk, wear all day, I have even worn them with dresses, not that I'd expect you to do that ;)
Maybe I wear mine more than you wear yours?? <shrugs>

Go naked but for a coating of lard. It works for cross channel swimmers and thats gotta be wetter than a bit of rain.

Well, its always good to remember that skin is waterproof & much easier to dry than most clothing, so:

little shorts or bikini shorts / waterproof poncho or binbag / comfy well-dubbined boots is one way to get through a downpour - plus a folded up waterproof bag to stuff in any clothing you don't want to get wet, & a towel or sarong to dry off with.

Though I would try & take some warmer stuff as well, plus one lightweight but full change of clothing including shoes to be kept absolutely dry in a plastic bag until as near the last day as you can manage.

Yes, a pair of waterproof trousers that will go over whataver else you wear are a must. Regatta do good cheap ones.

Combine with a lightweight waterproof jacket/poncho etc with a hood that will go over your hat & you can go all day in bucketing rain.

Personally I prefer the climbing boots/seal-skinz (waterproof socks) combination - comfy & waterproof without the boil in the bag effects of wellies. The nature of the Merino wool means you can wear the socks for several days at a time, even with fragile feet. :) Other forms of goat socks are also good. They don't soak & dry fast. :)

Ahh, festivals & silly footwear choices! Almost as good as tents. :D

but:

i can't afford them
this is the first time i will have set foot in mud in over ten years
proper shoes hurt my feet
there isn't much choice in my size
i already have wellies
i won't be yomping cross country in them

so there.:p

wellies will be fine - I've got walking boots and I've got wellies, I wore the wellies the most at glastonbury. the boots were great for when it was pouring down and really sludgy, as they're more substantial, but as we've been promised it doesn't get as sludgy as glastonbury, I'm thinking I might only take my wellies. just remember to take long socks so the wellies don't rub the back of your legs. wellies are also easier to get on and off :D

and yes to the waterproof trousers, mine are packed :D

I'm taking a grey sequined net prom dress, a camouflage goretex coat and some para boots, and a wide selection of costume jewellery. Job done.

(I might take more frocks if I can get me act together)

Why are you so grumpy recently? :(

What's wrong with wellies and why will they ruin your feet? I've got some proper fucking boots and last year at BD it was a nightmare getting across the bit in front of the main stage.

It's not long, just grossly impractical :D Like this, but more sequins.
