If you 'supported' (ok, followed) a team in another country, what would it be?

That was the main reason I started taking an interest.

That and the fascism, naturally.

A lot of folks (myself included) watched Lazio with interest in them days, Football Italia on Ch 4 etc.

"Gazza's fan club is here
shag women - drink beer"

Whatever.

I watched Ultra' the other day, by the way. I was very disappointed.

It is true though. :D

What were you expecting? I quite like it, not because it's ASR, but I like the characters and it's pretty 'realistic' as those sorta films go.

Tognazzi has made a better film La Scorta.

I was expecting it to be edgier and more violent than it was. I also thought there might be scenes on the terraces.

It wasn't bad, but I was hoping for more.

I think the fact that there's little or no 'dyeresque' violence it in is a good thing. Very unlikely they'd have got into any stadiums for any panoramic stuff, remember this was in the run up to Italia 1990....
The lead actor was a Roma Ultra when he was younger, he had a fair bit of trouble in the year after that from genuine Roma Ultras.

This got a bit violent mind....

Part of Roma's escort to Napoli a few years back in the Coppa Italia

The supporters of the foreign club I pretend to support are harder than the supporters of the foreign club you pretend to support.

etc

:D

Some of our lot brought a pet St Pauli fan with them to Swindon on Saturday. I think he enjoyed himself.

We chortle the rest of the year away thinking of Swindon's Young Farmers stand. Especially their failure to pronounce the letter W correctly

I know it's obvious, but for me it would have to be Barcelona.

Got to love the city itself, the best all-round city in Europe IMO, would give anything for a viable job there.

Plus the history of anarchists versus the fascists of franco, and the way that that has continued into the modern day multi billion pound game with the fans having a stake in the club.

Also they're always great to watch, and their kit is cool :)

(I know this is a bit of an obvious answer but it's the honest one for me)

Everything you just said, mainly due to Anarchist Catalonia and the fact I had many holidays in the city as a kid and loved it there.

But don't you think a little of the tradition creeps over into the club? For such a massive club, they do things quite differently, e.g. having no sponsor until Unicef quite recently, or the way the fans can vote on club matters

Well, the latter isn't unique to them and you don't need a sponsor when you're as rich as they are. So in some minor ways sort of, but it's not really very much to do with 1936. It is a lot to do with Barcelona's image of itself as - and stop me if you've heard something like this before - the greatest city in the world.

I don't really support a team here in the UK.

The team I support is Ajax - have done for 18 years or so. Not the team they once were since Bosman, but they still produce great young players.

I love going to the Arena to see them play, drinking beer and eating broodje kroketten.
