If you 'supported' (ok, followed) a team in another country, what would it be?

den haag have got quite a bad rep for hooliganism havent they?

Yep. Thought they'd brought a decent following over for the pre-season friendly last July but it turned out half of them were Swansea :D

I follow AS Roma & 1860 Munchen meself. Just saw some bloke in a St Pauli t shirt in a curry house this evening, they must have more followers in the UK than they do in fucking Hamburg

It's not a bad thing in these days of futbol24 and justin tv to follow a few teams for whatever ridiculous reason you fancy. Follow rather than support maybe though.

St. Pauli in bundesliga 2 is an easy one to justify, but I also take an interest in Tigres of Mexico (they won me a lot of money a few years ago and one thing led to another), plus Newell's Old Boys in Argentina (same, plus the name, plus they wear a big club badge that says "NOB" in large letters). Little things I know, but they all count.

Oh, and Kaiser Chiefs in SA too (as thanks for Lucas Radabe and Phil Masinga if nothing else).

Foreign teams I like:

ACMilan cos I used to go and watch them when I lived there
Bologna cos it's the commie team
Lyon cos it's a lush city and they are the best team in the Champions League who aren't ridiculously rich
Betis - championship manager
FC Ulsan - cos they were the 'plucky' Korean team who did better than they should have when I was living there
Bremen - cos the german guy I lived with supported them and he was cool

Fucking hate st pauli and thiere merchandsing department(other then the toaster)

Its a poser club!:mad::mad:

Half the people who wear the stuff don't even know where the club is, let alone where they are in the league or anything useful or anything about football.

dave

It's the number 1 Cult club on the planet, due to their anti-fascist anti-sexist etc stance, of course it's going to be popular, and yes it does hold symbolism, whether or not one understands the offside rule or not, which is why you see various fuckers wandering about with Pauli tops on.

Get over it.

And make some fucking toast.

It's the number 1 Cult club on the planet Neville though but gadgee man!

Mind you, what would Brenda say, eh.

(tidy boiler like)

Also true of most supporters in Spain, for that matter. Is there a Spanish word for "gloryhunter"?
the nearest is 'chaquetero' but that is more for someone who switches allegiances to a successful side. gloryhunting is somethign they are in denial about, after all what's wrong with having one, possibly your local, club and then supporting a successful club as well?

Kaiser Chiefs are another Glory glory club ;)

Real Sociedad, for the basque thing and John Aldridge
Barcelona cos they're from barcelona (and play kind of attractive football)
Viktoria Žižkov - the Tranmere of Prague, except they've become quite good i recent years. the only foreign match I've been to, a good working-class team that anyone can afford to get into

When Roma played United in the game where the Roman plod went tonto the cheapest tickets in the Roma seats was £12. Champs League knock-out rounds for £12. Season tickets for £180.

The south Sydney Rabbitohs cuz a. they were thrown out of the comp and forced their way back in b. russell crowe owns them and watching him slowly going loopy is fun c. they are named after blokes who used to sell rabbits on the street of sydney to scrap a living and d. they never win anything! Jut like any club ive ever supported (except liverpool who i supported when i was 8-12 and glamorgan who won the county championship when i was at cardiff uni!)
oh and because they aint a feckin football team you boring predictable feckers! onnly kidding :D

I've got one of their scarfs thanks to the mooses. They had a terrible job finding anywhere selling their stuff though.

Sociedad are cool, much better than them Bilbao nobheads
