If you had to listen to the same album everyday..

When i was young i used to have some weird obssessive compulsive disorder where I had to carry out little rituals everyday or else I thought bad things would happen to me. One of them was I had to listen to my 7" of The Reflex by Duran Duran every morning before going to school.

Aaaaw!
((((little dj squelch))))

The pixies: Doolittle or Surfer Rosa
PJ Harvey: songs from the city, stories from the sea

I've listened to those three about 6 million times already with no ill effects.

I don't often listen to it these days, but Stone Roses: stone roses is a contender too.

Any of the following:

Eels - Electro-Shock Blues
Jeff Buckley - Grace
Sonic Youth - Dirty
Elliott Smith - From A Basement On The Hill
Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever To Tell

god knows, most things would grate eventually. but a handful of albums - Astral Weeks, In An Aeroplane Over The Sea, The Rockingbirds, Forever Changes - have been played so bloody often that a few dozen more times wouldn't knock the shine off 'em

Before the advent of broadband and stations like "Cryosleep" and "Cedarburg Dreamtime", for several years I used to need Global Communication's "76:14" playing on a loop to get through the night.

I try these days to stick to dance mixes on my MP3 player while I commute rather than overplaying the likes of Joni Mitchell as I did in the dim distant past.

For me it would have to be something classical as I believe that style of music stands up best to repeated listening.

Maybe some Tchaikovsky as he's my favourite composer.

Nothing with a vocal as I'd get sick of hearing the same voice day after day.

I agree that something classical and soothing might be best...chopin's nocturnes prehaps....

but I have also never got bored of 'back in black' and reckon I could handle it just about every day.

There are a lot of albums I play obsessively, but the only one I think I could listen to every day (and actually do as it's the only cd in me car) is Elephant, The White Stripes

surprise!

I dunno, maybe Daydream Nation, just because it is so intricate and you always hear new things.

I used to be much more tolerant of repeated plays, indeed I am sure that there was a spell of around 1 and a half years in my teens where I did indeed listen to Nevermind every day, sometimes more than once

I'm not sure I would want to do it. My favourite album ever is "Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)" so maybe that, or maybe My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless". Suitably ambient.

Kind of Blue by Miles Davis, or Bitches Brew. Or Movies by Holger Czukay. Or Journey in Satchidananda by Alice Coltrane. Or Endtroducing by DJ Shadow.

Yeah, that's a very listenable one too.
