If you had the money, which designers' stuff would you wear?

savile row "several pairs of combats, please - use your initiative".

hmm. Oswald Boateng combats. nice. :D

Boateng & Armani bespoke for suits and some really nice overcoats. And some shirt, with a variety of collar types. Get some really nice shoes & boots made by Berluti. Mebbe a few designer Ts and whatnot, but not much else - am happy with Cromwell's madhouse purchased 2nds and Next white t-shirts for everything else...

Stumbled across a shop in Cantrerbury about 15 years ago that sold Paul Smith stuff, and it really stuck in my mind as very stylish, and to this day I'd imagine wearing it if I had the money. Jumpers, shirts, trousers, long coats. Very, very cool.

Hope he still does the same sort of stuff.

Other than that, probably Armani. The understated, tailored stuff. Mrs.Griff swears the Armani stuff for the fit and elegance of stuff she bought in the early '90s.

Oh and another thing, bought Mrs.Griff a Hermes silk scarf for Christmas a fair few years back, and it's the most wonderful colourful thing you could imagine.

Expensive. :(, but always a joy when she wears it and women always comment on it.

If I had the money to buy her more, then she'd have more than just one...

Get some retro Michiko Koshino from the mid-90s mate. Desert Storm choc chip, Wehrmacht plate greens and some based on an obscure Russian camo pattern :D

nah, got to be proper suit work at the same time, that's the thing.

silk-lined wool camo trousers with double-stitched seams on the pockets, major fastener stuff going on, and subtle pockets capable of carrying a small anti-tank weapon.

handy for those visits south of the river :D

Vivienne Westwood - she doesn't do seasonal fashion, just her own thing, punky, cut nicely for petite people

Her stuff is ace.. but unless she were to bring her stuff out in plus sizes, I will never be able to get into it!

I make do with the jewellery, she does nice jewellery.

A lot of my clothes are designer anyway, european designers that no-one has ever heard of!

Most of the designer stuff I've looked at when I've been spending stupid money on clothes have been way way too small for me :o

I suppose I should've just spent the money on gyms and liposuction :D

How much are Hermes scarves? I have mt heart set on a LV scarf, but could switch allegiance ;)

Jean-Paul Gaultier - like Viv, does his own thing, lots of cool pattern and colour, distinctive

VW was my first thought, on reading your post I'd tend to agree with you on JPG, and as I don't 'know' the styles of any other designer I'd have to go with vintage Chanel coz I liked their stuff from the 60s iirc.

Ralph Lauren, Burberry and Vivienne Westwood. I have loads of stuff by Vivienne Westwood that I've bought in sales and on the internet. Her stuff isn't too badly priced.

I would have a lot of clothes custom made.

especially trousers - the bane of my fashionable existence

a couple of good handmade suits. Otherwise, I'm not really arsed - i generally wear carhartt jeans and a range of tshirts anyway

Maharishi....not really designer designer though have spent £200 on their trousers before in my heady youth...actually still buy a lot of their stuff though wait for the sales...

Loads :D

I'd love to be able to afford such stuff

Galliano Dior
Westwood
Louboutin - never liked Manolo Blahnik - too "fine"
Prada
Stella McCartney
Really wanted one of those Roland Mouret Galaxy dresses!
Halston dresses and those Balmain frocks Gwyneth Paltrow kept getting snapped in.

Hey ho - it doesn't mean I'd look good though. Was working in the Churchill Hotel on tuesday and the place was awash with women in flash stuff - most of them looked as average as I do generally. THe clothes stood out but they didn't iyswim? You can't buy style!

That Pleats please stuff was ace he did! (

that was issey miyake. you can still get it.

i already have quite a bit of deigner stuff. god bless sample sales, ebay and selfridges sale. i rarely buy full price high street stuff and get cut price designer stuff instead. my black suit should've been about £800, but i paid £120!
