Think I had a song of his on an old reggae compilation called Taxi Connection.. although I could be wrong. Lots of what I (no doubt mistakenly) belive is called Dancehall Reggae. Had Sly and Robbie, Black Uhuru and Halfpint on it.

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about Smiley Culture... he's good too. I have a jungle mix of Cockney Translator somewhere :D

Dub - i still disagree with you about Eek-a-Mouse and Barrington btw. hope you're suitably mortified. :)

what are you disagreeing about? all i said was that they were singers from the same period who both had a distinct style. what could possibly be debatable? :p

so yeah, i like both the production and the biddly bong ness.

i also like smiley culture and half pint.

i will fire up soulseek when i get home.

Aw, this thread has reminded me of all that great reggae I only have on tape (and therefore can't listen to anymore). I'm off to update my Amazon wishlist and dig out my (shamelessly stolen) copy of 'Police Officer'.

but i don't even understand what you disagree with :D

ok. :)

if someone liked, say, Babs Streisand, and asked me for recommendations.

i would not then say 'hey, try Lilly Allen!'

both singers have distinctive voices.

but Barrington and Eek-A-Mouse were working in a very similar area musically at the same time...

oh i give up.
someone was asking for recommendations, not a careful cross-comparison of different vocalist, with reference to particular albums and the producers used :p

 I havent heard him for years, I lost my vinyl when i moved:(

was it him who done Bonnie and Clyde and that maggie thatcher track?

Dunno, but he was mainly known for Cockney Translator and Police Officer, other than his live sound system MC'ing.

If you know any more lyrics someone might be able to work them out.

BTW there seem to be 3 sellers on Amazon who think that CD should be worth over fifty quid. It's not.
