If England were to declare independance from the UK...

Somerset, Cornwall, Devon...you know, the SW chunk of the country.

There's a clear division between the Cornish and the rest of the westcountry. If we're gonna build a wall anywhere its gonna be between Devon and Cornwall.

AHH, ok, fair enough.

To me it's somewhere I drive to on holiday and it's all very pretty and stuff, what with being an eye-blinkers on Londoner and all that :D

My guess would be that Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire would split themselves off, East Anglia minus Essex, London with Essex and maybe Kent, that Cornish/SW lot away with the zider and toward tolerant race relations ;)(sorry but from what I've heard it's not exactly multi-cultural 101 down there); Wales and Scotchland off on their own, the rest of the counties/cities coming to regionally pleasing arrangements, with the legal basis a mixture of British and EU law, with localised differences.

Great idea Keyser, build a wall from the Wash to just North of Bristol & another on the Devon/Cronish border. The independent republic of London & the South East will be born..

The republic dont want a united Ireland any more - theve even written it out of ther consitution I think.

they would not mind a united ireland, but they don't insist on it anymore. by consent only.

Nah London should go it alone and all the southern counties from Devon to Kent should join as one nation.

Trouble is, they'd have to call it Toryland!

tbh i don;t care - cause i'd be living in london - but with southern counties nationality for weekends.

and who said cornwall could be part of this? - they can either join wales or go it alone.

I think they might mind it if it was done in a manner in which a tax subsidised lil statelet with a million ungrateful prods are dumped on them to sort out.

I think the Irish state would shit a brick. Especially when wee lads from Cork are coming home from Policing in Belfast in body bags.

Regarding the Doomsday scenario as envisioned by many a numpty loyalist. Yeah, they would prepare for an ethno nationalist war, in which the whole province would be polarised. Don't know if it would work though. In a smaller manner both the loyalists and provos engaged in this "strategy of tension", polarising the sectarian divide to strengthen their power base.

I guess Wales, Ireland and Scotland would be as independent as possible with the EU over us (difficult), and England would join the United States of America?

Cornwall could join Wales, we'd have them, but I think they're a separate nation to Wales and should do their own thing.

tell me, do you actually think like this or do you do retard impressions for a living.

What the fuck do you even mean by nation?

God, i hate you petty lil nationalist fucktards, go fuck a sheep whilst your pot noddle mining uncle butt fucks you with a leek.

Let me guess, you've just come back from a "Conflict Resolution" course, haven't you? :)

Not many BNP candidates or campaigning round here mate. You might want to look a bit closer to home before going off all half cocked.

I'm an oppressed celt, I can't be xenophobic!

seriously, the welsh are soo fucking oppressed, aren;'t they, people make nasty adverts about them mining pot noddles.

catch a grip, Welsh nationalists are pathetic lil yokels. They are like Irish and Scottish nationalists except really pathetic wannabes.

I mean atleast they have Michael Collins and Braveheart to wank over, what have they got?

I've seen the question of English independence crop up in a few places since the World Cup. It seems to me that some of the English themselves are at last beginning to tire of the "UK". Very interesting.

And I am curious as to what exact status the UK would then have were England to break off from it. I mean, the UK without it's largest component would be a rather odd entity, wouldn't it? Where would the UK parliament and Royals go, for instance (couldn't remain in London as it would - presumably - be the capital of an indepandant England)?

My guess is that following an English UDI Scotland would quickly follow suit, leaving just Northern Ireland and Wales. I can't see Wales remaining part of a rump UK for much longer after that - leaving the UK comprising solely of Northern Ireland. What would then happen is open to question, as the whole isssue is a much thornier one in NI. Having said that, it's hard to imagine what the NI unionists would consider themselves to be in union with in such circumstances.

How are you on blacks and immigrants?

sorry, is this an attempt to compare the oppression of the welsh with experiances of afro carribeans, asian and immigrants?

Actually most immigrants are cracka's from the states, canada and australia as far as I know, and I don't think they really need my solidarity.

As it is I'm very much in support of immigrant rights, and have been active in issues around racism in Belfast.

So please don't try and paint me as some lil englander. I just have no time for whingin nationalists.
