If Eavis won't admit the truth, will Glastonbury next year be better?

 i remember '92 - seen the security (about 7 of them) kidnap by force some poor bloke from his stall at 4am and hit him alot then bundle him into the back of a land rover then drove off - ruined my trip coz i was really concerned for the bloke:(

thems were the days eh

i had a great time in 92 as it goes.
got over the fence for a quid, did loads of tequila slammers and my first real pill, then danced for a day and a half in the circus warp tent and was home with my feet up before the riot kicked off.
sorted ;)

Why? Because it has a trippy image on it and some nonsense writing?

How about this alternative festival advert repleat with hippy imagery?

I think you people just like to piss and moan tbh.

I think you've just buggered your own argument there... Bestival is entirely marketing itself as an alternative, non-corporate festival. Whether it manages that fully I'm not sure, but Rob Da Bank knows what a festival should be like and Bestivals his attempt to create that albeit on a fairly big scale.

Oh god... I feel so ashamed. I feel betrayed.

If only I hadn't made myself the sole defender of Michael Evis and Glastonbury festival - I would have never got myself in this dreadful, frightful mess.

Whadda mistaka ta maka

also had the ladder with us that year!;)

my sis got caught up in the riots - lost her glasses and a shoe:D

The "riot" was in 1990. People have given up on Glastonbury because it has become too much like hard work and there are plenty of alternatives these days. Mind you I haven't been since 1992, so I'm probably not allowed to have an opinion ;)

 oh well i was there both years so you must forgive me...glastonbury jaunts seem to merge into one big glasto memory!

i think the last time i went was 95' so my opinion dont mean much either...

i remember when there was a huge big ship made outta wood in the kids field  i loved that ship (think it was a ship)

I would argue that perhaps it is a matter of protest. It isn't that Jay-Z is purely not to their taste, it is what Jay-Z stands for that people don't like.

Manufactured crap.

I guess you don't know much about Hova then? Explain exactly how he's manufactured

Ignore - cos other people have already mentioned this

it's £155 and despite not being able to go for a few years I think it's still a bargain for up to 5 days & 24 hours of non-stop entertainment.

Okay, but that's plus booking fees as well. I haven't been since '85 and I know even back then it was more expensive than other festivals (for example, The Elephant Fayre was always cheaper and had many of the same acts...it was also a smaller festival).

£155 with out booking fee £160 with booking fee plus a £4 ridlcious surcharge...

so £164 a ticket...

which if you went as a couple would be £328 or if you went as two couples or a family of 4 over 14's £1312 which you can go to disney land for ... it's simpley shockingly poor value added to which the issues of having to upload your photo the site being an utter complicated pain in the arse to register on. The then having to leap through yet more hoops to buy a ticket at a different point in time to registering for the ability to buy one. the site not being browser compatible. the lack of suitable cover if it rains.

it has bugger all to do with Jay-z as no one goes to fesitvals for the music they go for the shits and giggles of it. The Jay - Z might have effected last minute sales but i can't see it being an issue.

My guess is that also this year a fair few people who'd usually try and get tickets and failed for one reason or another got fed up with the whole process of in effect internet q'ing and are working it this year rather than having to pay to get in and solve the hassle of the buggering around...

It's always easy to forget how much things cost while you're inside the festival too: I always remember Rizla changing hands for £1 a pack and bog roll being sold at some really ridiculous prices!

As for Jay-Z, I don't think that many people are put off by him; it is a big festival after all!

are you sure?
you mean the one with the travellers against the security?
i could have sworn it was 92.
oh well, i missed it whenever it was and like miss daisy,
i only have a general glastonbury memory which involves lots of friends, mud, crowds, drugs and dancing.

are you sure?
1990 - I was sitting in a friends truck in an amplified relaxed state when someone poked their head around the door and announced that the security were coming for the travellers again* and burning buses as they went. Rushed out of the truck to see some of my crusty brethren on the back of flat bed making petrol bombs and the gate into the travellers' field barricaded. In the distance there were ominous clouds of black smoke.

Then everyone came back with their war stories, Hawkwind played on Wango Riley's and that was that.

*there was a mistaken belief that the security were the same as those used at Treworgy the year before, where all manner of shit had occurred.

The major difference being that at Treworgey, the security had all legged it pretty sharpish which led to the chaotic scenes that followed. Whereas the fuckers at glastonbury appeared determined to seek some kind of retribution for people being perceived as reluctant to leave iirc?

At Treworgey the security attempted to take control of the festival and the cash but were beaten back and then fucked off. Pilton 1990 the security had a number of run ins with travellers over the festival, culminating in their "arrest" of a couple of travellers who were out tatting.

Aha, that's it, i'd forgotten about that inre: Treworgey, all sorts of rumours were flying around about people with shotguns and the organiser having a nervous breakdown and other stuff that's lost in the mists of my mind :)

i missed all that too.
i seem to have missed a lot of trouble over the years at festys and free parties.
i put it down to me being so wasted that i wouldnt have noticed even if it had been going on right in front of my face
