okay surely the whole basis of this question is that does an event happen if there is no one there to witness it, but surely the fact we know a tree has fallen means we have some access to the event.

i would have thought the question was setting on the track of questioning the way in which we intreperated information ... the imediate answer is yes but the question asks us to think about why we know this even though we did not witness this and to perhaps question our other preconcived thought about life
