Ian Dury

i don't have any idols, you daft twat. Whereas I bet you have a shrine to Judas fucking Priest in your house somewhere.

Oh, you do have. Oh you do, fanboy!

I have a storage unit floor to ceiling with Priest, Flag and Rollins stuff. *shrugs* What has that to do with an also-ran punk-new wave hanger on?

Look upon the works of the Priest and despair:

Pounding the world like a battering ram
Forging the furnace for the final grand slam
Chopping away at the source soon the course will be done
Leaving a trail of destruction that's second to none
Second to none

Yeh, Ian Dury had NOTHING on that, eh? :D

Ooh. Blimey. Shaken the tree tonight, eh?

Ian Dury...not the greatest Englishman ever...no way...lame music too! Enjoy!

Fuck off Noddy, you smelly turd
Fuck off Noddy you're so absurd
Fuck off Noddy you stupid prat
Fuck off Noddy in your rotten hat
Fuck off Noddy you little wimp
Fuck off Noddy you're a piss brained shrimp
Fuck off Noddy you stupid prat
Fuck off Noddy in your rotten hat

He was anything but an "also-ran punk-new wave hanger on."

It's fair enough not to like the guy's material, but why post up blatantly incorrect information?

I think his music is average. There are worse things to listen to. Also ran? Compared to iother artists from that period, yes, I think so. And like a lot of artists, he inspires a lot of loyalty but still an also-ran, IMO.

You're entitled to your opinion, but you'll find very few people thought of him as an "also ran" at the time or when looking back at his career.

In fact, some regard him as a forerunner of punk.

You didn't even recognise the lyrics :D I doubt you're arguing from a position of knowledge tbh.

Dury was sound. he did a TV programme about folk who continued working after struck with hardcore disability and my dad was one of the folk he featured. My folks said he was brilliant. A truly amazing lyricist and one of the few artists who could be genuinely described as inspirational (not to even mention Kilburn & the High Roads' influence on the nascent punk scene)

LOL, you're just an ignorant prick by the way.

^ maybe, maybe not

...either way his music is/was dull...not very interesting...not life changing...Blur have done it better since...*gets coat*

Ian Dury. Zzz.

*taxi!*

I'm having an Ian Dury cd brurning party. You're all invited.

Seriously, though, I do find it astonishing that an alleged grown-up like LoL can listen to Judas Priest and not piss themselves laughing. Studs and flying V guitars are fine when you're 12, but then you kiss a girl or something and move on.
