I went to my very last gig last night.

A lot of it is increasing age I suspect...but BL goes to loads of gigs with mates, I just won't be doing it again. I can't remember the last gig I really enjoyed.

I feel like this about most clubs and bars, now and I'm 38. I really cannot be dealing with it. I met a mate in a crowded City bar a few weeks ago. I was , at the crowds and noise. I also met some friends for a reunion drink in the West End in a supposedly plush wine bar. I lasted just two hours. Hot, crowded, noisy, couldn't hear anyone. I just had to GET OUT of there.

He looked a bit of a wanker with his combat shorts and my little ponytail.

:D:D

We go and see quite a lot of jazz concerts at the Barbican or South Bank. The're sit-down so I don't think you quite get the atmosphere but at least it's comfortable, & the sound is good.

I always wear ear plugs because I like my hearing more than a single gig.

Currently using the older version of these and pretty happy.

I really need to get some of these. I've had permanent tinnitus for the last 4 months, and I've pretty much stopped going to gigs as a result. :(

I went to one last night though (-a very loud one), and for the first time ever, I decided to wear earplugs. Not those fancy ones, just some cheap wax ones that aren't exactly ideal for gigs.

It didn't really spoil my enjoyment of the gig though, and when I did remove them for a couple of minutes mid-set, I really noticed the kind of volume I've previously been subjecting them to. (-It also sounded unbelievably fucking awesome at that point too though, tbh. :D)
