get a Dracena. (they are lovely leafy plants with long pointy leaves which are a deep reddish purple underneath)
they are super hardy plants.
peace lillies are too fragile but my Dracenas have survived and out lived banana plants, a lemon tree, a lime tree, several peace lillies, a lady finger plant, a bird of paradise and an african violet.
