I need to make a doll's suitcase

I dont like Elijah for some reason. There are some good elephant patterns though, but my nephew is 5 and I suspect small cuddly things are becoming less interesting per se. The thing about Poppy is all the accessories because they give her more play value. I couldn't find anything equivalent.

Finally got round to the nightdress:

Added some bedsocks as niece found it weird she has to go to bed with her shoes on:

Then felt there was something missing, so added it:

They are all gorgeous. Makes me wish a) my niece & goddaughter were younger and b) I could knit well.

The spotted suitcases remind me of a doll's suitcase I had as a child (which really belonged to my toy rabbit) :o :o which I used when I did the classic kid thing of running away from home and getting as far as the end of the street. :o:o

ruby - this thread has made me all teary. what a lovely auntie you are.

my mum made me a ragdoll with a whole heap of clothes for christmas one year when i was small. it was my fave thing for years - had to be mended several times. but it wasn't til i got older that i realised all the love and care that went into making that gift. It's the most precious thing. Your niece is lucky indeed.

aw she's gorgeous, and the teddy's inspired :)

do you crochet? there's loads of fun patterns if you can, personally i recommend this one :D

It's an insurance policy, spangles. Someone's going to have to wipe my arse when I'm old, and I'm not going to have my own kids ;)

Anyway, I'm quite tempted by this crab for the nephew: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer09/PATTcrab.php
But crochet might be the way to go, I'll have to look into that. If he was a bit older I could have done the knitted dalek and tardis.

Pleeeeeease be my auntie :D
Mine too :D

oooh, I like him, was going to make Sheldon for my niece for christmas, but just realised there's some corchet in it :(

No. You'll only need to master single crochet anyway, which is just one stitch. You'll find it a piece of cake, and if you don't I can show you.

Cheers. Doesn't seem to have taken people that long to knit him. So I reckon I'll keep him on the list - won't start for a few months yet :D

Very Cool Doll.

This is the first soft toy I ever made (ten years ago now). It's an old white T-Shirt Stuffed with foam from my pillow.

Not quite in the same league.

Still very cool though. I like it, though I can't work out what it is. :D It looks like a cat crossed with a rabbit with a carthorse's feet.

Is crochet hard? I really want to make him for her.

crochet is so much easier than knitting - if you can knit toys (which i'm pretty sure i couldn't) you can definitely learn to crochet. and amigurumi is just loadsa round bits stuck together, very very simple.

have you got a link for the knitted bender, i'd love to see :)

It's a cat of course. C'mon, it was my first go and I didn't draw out a pattern.

There should be a thread for U75 home made soft toys. I have plenty more.

Rock and rollllll

i did a cat next, that's a bit better, although something went terribly wrong with his ears

I like his legs, and the way he is a bit wonky :)

I've told myself not to start on amigurumi (now I know what it is)... otherwise won't stop. I'll just learn a bit of crochet for this one piece.
Can't link to the knitted bender because it's on another site where you'd have to be logged in... but he looks like this:

how tf do you knit those fingers though? they're a bugger to crochet but i can't even begin to imagine trying to knit them, ditto his thingy.
