I need a new series to download...

Drama - Definitely Deadwood or The West Wing. They (along with Buffy), are the greatest TV series I've ever seen (I haven't watched The Wire yet, before someone says something!).

Comedy - Don't think it's been mentioned yet, but How I Met Your Mother is surprisingly good and easy to get into. Plus Neil Patrick Harris' character is brilliant.

There is another series called The Mentalist. Also another one called Life

Both good shows, with odd main characters. I really liked Life, but not sure if there will be another season.

The mentalist I watched absolutely ages ago, 6 months or so, but there were only two episodes that I remember seeing, then it just sort of stopped, but I noticed that it had started again recently so perhaps it was commisioned for a full season.

If you can get Life you should watch that.

Different to the Wire. Very different. And nowhere near as good.

Sons of Anarchy.

Has Ron Perlman in it and Dutch from teh Shield has just joined the cast.

Pretty good, biker criminals in a small town its just started and its good a bit of humour and a bit of darkness to it and the actors so far have been excellent.

Oh it also has Mom from Married with Children in it....took me bloody ages to work out where I had seen her before too.

Enjoying this a lot - thanks for the HU. Great ensemble cast - and there's something quite peversely enjoyable about a character with a broad Glaswegian accent in a mainstream(ish) US Tv drama!

Deadwood's my favorite, because the writing is so good. They all speak in this high-faluting pseudo-Elizabethen jargon. You have to concentrate quite hard but its damn funny.

I thought the first series was great, but after that I lost interest a bit.
